Caitlin Clark Responds to WNBA Opponents Attacking Her Defense

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are in a bit of a rough spot after losing two straight games. The first loss came at the hands of the Golden State Valkyries, 90-88. However, their biggest defeat of the season was their most recent one. Indiana suffered a 16-point loss against the Portland Fire on Saturday.

In that game, Clark had a forgettable outing. She was in foul trouble the whole game, which limited her to only 21 minutes. On top of that, the two-time WNBA All-Star scored only six points on 1-of-7 shooting.

The Fire constantly attacked Clark on the defensive end, forcing her into isolation situations. This has been a trend for the two-time All-Star early in the campaign. In fact, Clark has defended the most isolation plays across the league this season.

Clark was asked about this development on Monday during practice. The Fever star remains unfazed.

"Yeah, I mean, I expect it to continue to happen," Clark said. "I think I've guarded probably the most isolations in the league so far.

"... It's one of those things where you look in the mirror, watch the film, and find ways to get better

The 6-foot sharpshooter cited her experience in their recent loss to the Golden State Valkyries as a prime example of how she intends to respond to opposing teams that constantly attack her defense.

"I forced them into 12- to 15-foot contested jump shots rather than seven-foot shots around the rim," Clark said of the Valkyries. "Those are a lot easier for people to make. The contested jumpers are the shots we want them taking."

Indiana's next game will be at home against Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream. With a handful of days' rest in between, Clark and the Fever are looking to bounce back and get the win.
