Shaun White's Snow League Is Back: Here's When Season 2 Hits the Slopes
Following a banger Season One debut with events across North America, Europe, and Asia, The Snow League is gearing up to return for Season Two, and with a few exciting updates. Like its inaugural season, Season Two of Shaun White's freeski and snowboard halfpipe event series will feature three events across the 2026/27 winter.
However, to kick off Season Two, The Snow League announced on June 3, 2026, that The Snow League World Challenge at Cardrona Alpine Resort in New Zealand will precede the northern hemisphere winter season. The Snow League World Challenge will take place from September 18-20, 2026, and is the first team-based event in the series.
Teams are made up of one male and one female snowboarder and freeski Snow League athletes. Each team represents a different region- North America, Europe, & Asia/Pacific-as well as a team of Challengers, which features emerging next-generation talent from all over the world. Results of the World Challenger event are separate from individual Snow League athlete standings.
Following World Challengers, Season Two officially kicks off at Buttermilk in Aspen, Colorado, from January 7-9, 2027. Event two will take place at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah, from January 21-23, 2027. In preparation for the 2034 Utah Olympic Games, Park City will also debut a new 22-foot halfpipe at the Snow League's second event of the season, which will be the first time a halfpipe of that size has existed at Park City since 2019.
Season Two will close out from March 11-13 as The Snow League returns to LAAX, Switzerland, for the 2027 World Championship.
Alongside the new event in New Zealand and a new stop in Park City, The Snow League has also made some tweaks to the event format. Perhaps most notably, the freeski field will expand from 16 to 24 skiers for Season Two, allowing for greater depth of competition and a showcase of more halfpipe athletes.
Additionally, Season Two events will take place over three days, with a freeski and snowboard competition held every day to accommodate larger athlete fields. A qualifier round will take place on Day One, followed by quarterfinals on Day Two, and a semi-final and final on Day Three.
"Season One set the foundation," said Shaun White in a press release, "with Season Two, we're expanding and creating new ways for athletes to compete and for fans to engage. From launching The Snow League World Challenge to returning to some of the most iconic venues in the sport, fans should be really excited for what's in store for Season Two."
Season One of The Snow League was hallmarked by Brendan Mackay's 20.7-foot air out of the halfpipe, the head-to-head match-up of two of halfpipe skiing's leading women, Eileen Gu and Zoe Atkin, and a prize purse of more than $570,000 distributed across the freeski field.
Luke Harrold and Eileen Gu were crowned The Snow League World Champions at the end of the season and qualified for Season Two. Alongside Harrold, Brendan Mackay, Hunter Hess, and Gus Kenworthy all qualified for Season Two as well. In the women's freeski field, Gu will be joined by Amy Fraser, Svea Irving, and Rachael Karker as qualified athletes.
