Sports Fans Stunned By Aryna Sabalenka's Meltdown At French Open

Aryna Sabalenka seemed well on her way to making it back to the semifinals at Roland Garros this Wednesday, but Diana Shnaider wouldn't be denied on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

After winning the opening set, Sabalenka was up 4-1 in the second with a chance to put the match out of reach for good. Instead, she ended up stumbling and losing her composure. Shnaider took full advantage, forcing a third set and getting the French crowd on her side.

While tennis fans were hoping the deciding set would be epic, Shnaider served Sabalenka a bagel in the most shocking result of this wild French Open. The world No. 1 finished this match with a whopping 57 unforced errors.

As you'd imagine, tennis fans were both shocked and disappointed by Sabalenka's meltdown this Wednesday.

"Spectacular collapse here by Aryna Sabalenka, even by her latter-stages-of-a-Slam standards," one fan wrote on X.

"At this point I don't think Sabalenka will ever win another slam again," a second fan said.

"If Sabalenka wasn't so mentally weak she'd have a handful of extra majors," a third fan commented.

"Sabalenka too emotional man smh what meltdown," another fan declared

Déjà vu at the French Open for Sabalenka.

Roughly a year ago, Sabalenka collapsed in the Roland Garros final against Coco Gauff. She blamed her performance on the windy conditions in Paris.

Well, it was pretty evident the wind played a factor in Sabalenka's match against Shnaider this afternoon. However, there's no excuse for the top-ranked player on the WTA Tour to lose her composure for that long.

Sabalenka will try to redeem herself at Wimbledon, but it's hard to trust her after this recent performance.
