College Football Game Scheduled to Be Played in Brazil Abruptly Relocated
A college football game originally scheduled to be played in Brazil is being relocated, the NC State football team announced on Wednesday.
“Following extensive review with operational partners and international stakeholders, the 2026 NC State at Virginia football game, originally scheduled to be played in Brazil, will be relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, for this conference matchup,” it said in a statement.
“This change follows communication from Athlete Advantage, which informed the ACC and participating schools that the event could not be conducted.”

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Week 0, but now the ACC, NC State and Virginia are working with the NCAA and ESPN to confirm the game will remain on the originally scheduled date of Saturday, August 29.
Fans who purchased tickets or travel packages for the event through the official “College Football Brasil” website will receive refunds.
Virginia was one of the surprise teams of the college football season, racking up a 10-2 regular season record before losing a heartbreaker to Duke in the ACC title game which kept the Cavaliers out of the College Football Playoff.
NC State, though, was one of just three teams to defeat the Cavaliers in a 35-31 Week 2 matchup between the ACC schools. The Wolfpack went on to finish the season with an 8-5 record including a 31-7 win over Memphis in the Gasparilla Bowl.
