Lonzo Ball Declares Jalen Brunson The Greatest Knicks Player Ever
NBA veteran Lonzo Ball has crossed paths with the New York Knicks plenty of times in his career and is currently watching them play in the Finals from home. This morning he had a bold declaration about Knicks star Jalen Brunson that has a lot of people talking.
Taking to X, Ball declared that Brunson is simply the best Knicks player ever.
"Late commentary here but Brunson the best Knick to do it… like ever," Ball wrote.
The Greatest Knick?
It's a statement about Brunson that has been getting more and more discussion in the months since the Knicks began their NBA Finals run. He has been so clutch and so dominant for so many games this year that the number of fans willing to argue against it shrinks by the week.
That being said, there are still plenty of fans willing to take to the comments section to admonish Ball for not knowing his Knicks history or acknowledge the greatness of Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Patrick Ewing and others.
"Not yet. Clyde and Willis are ahead of him for now, but him and Ewing are debatable," one Knicks fan replied.
"Walt 'Clyde' Frazier had 36 points 19 assists and 7 rebounds in game 7 of the finals bro," another pointed out.
"Walt Frazier would like a word," a third said.
"Stop disrespecting the past for the present, and vice versa. It's very premature to say this, and it's why I hate all this legacy talk, particularly when there is basketball to be played. Brunson's story isn't over yet, regardless of what happens in these finals. Give him time to be the best and don't disrespect the greats that came before him."
Not everyone was willing to pour cold water onto the statement though. A few admitted that if Brunson seals the deal and leads the Knicks to their first Finals win since 1973, then he'll have a great case to make.
But that argument hinges almost entirely on winning a championship first. At 1-0, the team has some work to do.
