Brazilian Federation Issues Neymar Injury Update Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Brazil have received a timely Neymar update just as World Cup nerves start to build. The Brazil national team forward has been trying to recover in time for the opening game, and for a while, it looked like he might be cutting it very close.

But the latest word from the Brazilian Federation has given fans a little more hope. Neymar is still not fully in the clear, but the signs now suggest he could be moving in the right direction and may still have a chance to be ready when Brazil begin their tournament.

Fabrizio Romano shared an update on X regarding the 34-year-old saying, "Neymar underwent MRI on Monday and tests showed a good evolution in his treatment - within the expected parameters. He will follow the recovery preparation process planned by the medical commission of the Brazilian National Team."

Brazil still do not have a final answer on Neymar, but the latest update is at least moving in the right direction.

According to the Brazilian Football Confederation, Neymar's treatment is showing "good progress" and remains within the expected recovery timeline. That is encouraging, but there is still no clear date for when he will return to ball work.

The Brazil staff kept him away from the trip to Cleveland for the Egypt friendly so he could focus fully on rehab. Over the weekend, his recovery even included work on an anti-gravity treadmill, which allows him to run with less impact on the body.

The situation has been a little complicated from the start. The issue first came up while Neymar was still with Santos, and the club initially described it as swelling. But once he joined the national team, Brazil's medical team found a grade-two muscle tear, which made the timeline more serious.

For now, the update gives fans hope, but Neymar's availability for the Morocco opener is still a wait-and-see situation.
