Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh Pirates NRFI (-130)

Stud RHP Paul Skenes takes the mound against Dodgers LHP Eric Lauer. Skenes has struggled of late, allowing three or more ER in three of his last four starts. His first-inning ERA is 6.39, but eight of the nine runs he has allowed came in two starts. Lauer has allowed five ER in eight first frames, but he hasn't allowed one since entering the Dodgers' rotation a couple of starts ago.

New York Yankees at Cleveland Guardians NRFI (-125)

Yanks RHP Gerrit Cole makes his fourth start of the season, and he allowed his first four earned runs in his last turn. He has yet to allow a run in the first inning thus far. On the other side, RHP Slade Cecconi goes for the Guardians. He's 3-5 with a 4.92 ERA on the season but is marginally better in the first with a 4.85 ERA.

Seattle Mariners at Baltimore Orioles YRFI (-110)

Mariners RHP Logan Gilbert is having an OK season at 4-4 with a 3.79 ERA. He has been getting jumped on in the first, though, with a 5.54 ERA and a .329 batting average against. The O's throw LHP Trevor Rogers, who is 3-6 with a 6.29 ERA. The first has been one of his better innings, though, with a 2.45 ERA. The next four innings have been a mess. This YRFI looks ripe for the picking.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
