Josh Allen Was The NFL's Most Popular Player Last Year

Josh Allen is still seeking a Super Bowl, but he earned a different distinction last season.

The NFL Players Association released a list of the top 50 players based on merchandise sales from March 1, 2025, through February 28, 2026. Allen topped the leaderboard for the first time, beating out Drake Maye and Saquon Barkley for the No. 1 spot.

The rankings include all official NFL merchandise but exclude money earned from endorsements and sponsorships. While Maye bested his AFC East rival in total jersey sales, Allen generated the most international jersey sales and also led the league in FOCO bobblehead and Fathead sales.

Allen ranked sixth last year and 11th in the previous time period. His longtime rival, Patrick Mahomes, secured a top-10 spot for the eighth straight time.

Barkley held the top merchandise slot in last year's top 50. His Philadelphia Eagles teammate, Jalen Hurts, held the No. 1 designation in a 2023 list that ended Tom Brady's three-year run in first place.

Allen helped solidify his standing as a face of the league when garnering MVP honors in 2024. He posted a higher completion percentage (69.3%) and quarterback rating (102.2) last season, accounting for 39 total touchdowns.

The stars seemed aligned for Allen to capture his first AFC title, but the Bills suffered a gutting overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round. Allen still hasn't played in a Super Bowl despite tallying eight victories in the last six postseasons.

That quest may help bolster Allen's popularity, especially as fans grew tired of seeing Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs frequently compete for a Lombardi Trophy. The 30-year-old is focused on bringing the Bills their first title in franchise history.

"This city winning a Super Bowl is the last greatest sports story in all of the world. I really do believe that," Allen told Go Long's Tyler Dunne. "I want to be the guy that does it."
