Video Shows How Knicks' Crowd Really Felt About Seeing Taylor Swift
Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden could not have been more different.
In Game 3, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, the Knicks fell at home to the Spurs. Meanwhile, in Game 4, attended by Taylor Swift, the Knicks rallied from a 29-point second half deficit to take down the Spurs and get within one game of winning a coveted NBA championship.
The 20,000-fan crowd at Madison Square Garden had drastically different reactions to seeing Swift in Game 4 and seeing President Trump in Game 3, too.
As Swift was shown on the jumbotron at Madison Square Garden during Game 4, she received extremely loud cheers. Swift, who grew up in Pennsylvania but spends a lot of time in New York, was rocking a customized blue Knicks shirt.
Meanwhile, during Game 3, President Trump was shown on the jumbotron during the national anthem.
He was booed - loudly.
What President Trump said about getting booed
President Trump was asked postgame about his thoughts on the NBA.
"Well, it's a little left wing," replied Trump. "Yeah, I think so. It tends to be a little left wing, but it's great entertainment. It's great."
President Trump didn't hear the boos, either.
"I mean, I thought it was amazing, actually," Trump continued. "You mean when they had the camera on me? I thought it was very good. Yeah. It was certainly amazing. It was, I think, mostly cheers. It was loud and it was very enthusiastic."
U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was not happy to see President Trump at the game, either.
"As a politician, I've gone to my fair amount of sports games," she said on Instagram. "There are just some things that –– you don't want to go either to jinx it or just in general. Sometimes the accommodations that are required for the security just for you to show up are not worth shutting down for other people."
Game 5 is set for Saturday night.
