Selena Gomez Addresses Shady Comment About Taylor Swift's NBA Finals Appearance

Selena Gomez had plenty of angry Taylor Swift fans in her comments section earlier this week, but she claims that shouldn't have been the case.

Swift attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals alongside Alana and Este Haim. The 14-time Grammy Award winner was spotted courtside celebrating the New York Knicks' epic comeback against the San Antonio Spurs.

Gomez, who is apparently a fan of the Spurs, commented "lol" on an MTV post that showed Swift at Madison Square Garden. Swifties were convinced Gomez was taking a shot at the "Shake It Off" singer.

"She tanked and is irrelevant so she had to be insufferable again for attention," one fan said.

"She's hardcore Spurs fans," another person commented. "She must be bitter her beloved team lost and her friends celebrating the Knicks."

Well, it turns out Gomez's fandom played a role in her recent social media activity. She revealed that she made a bet with her friends in regards to Game 4.

"Woke up and was sent so many texts. I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult," Gomez wrote. "The comment was a reaction to the first slide on the page. Second I bet my friends on the game. The friends in the text chain I posted. I lost but was poking at my opponents, my friends. Believe it or not I do have other friends in my life. But quickly forget that most assume otherwise. also .. It's a basketball game."

Selena and Taylor are on good terms.

Before fans started speculating about a feud between these two stars, Us Weekly reported that Gomez is expected to attend Swift's wedding.

"Sources with direct knowledge tell us it's not like Taylor's mailing out save the dates … she's picking up the phone and calling guests herself," the report from TMZ states. "Our sources say the direct outreach is all about keeping the ceremony tightly under wraps and avoiding any potential leaks before the big day."

TMZ is reporting that Swift will get married at Madison Square Garden in early July. They're expected to have over 1,000 people in attendance.
