Denver Broncos Facing Pressure To Cut Jonathon Cooper After Second Arrest

Jonathon Cooper has been an impact player for the Denver Broncos since 2023, but the fans in Mile High City believe it's time for the two parties to go their separate ways.

On June 4, Cooper was arrested by Parker Police on suspicion of two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief. His arrest stemmed from an argument involving his girlfriend.

"Thursday night, Cooper was hanging out at his place with a woman he'd been seeing on-and-off for years, when she confronted him over alleged infidelity. The 28-year-old woman told police she grabbed Jonathon's phone and threw it against a wall, before again gaining possession of the device," TMZ reported.

"Eventually, there was a struggle, and Jonathon managed to retrieve his phone. According to the probable cause affidavit, he then demanded that she leave his home, or he allegedly told her he would break her cell. She didn't leave, and Cooper seemingly followed through on his threat, admitting to biting and breaking the screen of the iPhone 17."

According to Mike Klis of 9News, Cooper was arrested again this Thursday night on four additional charges "stemming from violating protection order placed against him."

The Broncos have issued this statement on Cooper's latest arrest: "We are disappointed to learn of Jonathon Cooper's arrest on Thursday and continue to review this matter."

As you'd imagine, Broncos fans are also disappointed by how Cooper has handled this offseason.

"Cut him now before more info leaks," a Denver fan said.

"Time for the Broncos to move on. Release him," a second fan wrote. "If we have the depth to survive without him, fine. If not, bring in Von or Cam Jordan."

"Gotta cut him now," another fan commented. "So distracting to such a talented team coming off a huge year."

This could be a costly offseason for Jonathon Cooper.

Cooper has racked up 266 career tackles, 63 QB hits, 31.5 sacks and two forced fumbles during his time in Denver. His last three seasons have been awfully impressive, make no mistake about it.

The Broncos have Cooper under contract through the 2028 season, so a tough decision may have to be made in the coming weeks.

Do you think Denver will cut Cooper before training camp?
