Knicks' Jalen Brunson Sends Message to Taylor Swift Fans After NBA Finals Win

Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks completed their NBA journey on Saturday night, with a 94-90 championship win over a young, talented San Antonio Spurs team.

The series went five games and featured many Knicks fans showing up at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and opposing teams’ arenas to cheer for their squad.

With two consecutive games at the legendary MSG last week, many celebrities appeared at Game 4 to see if the Knicks could bounce back with a win. One of the familiar faces in the crowd was massively popular and successful singer, Taylor Swift.

Swift rocked a blue shirt with “Stevie Knicks” in orange letters across the chest, and sat courtside near actor Mariska Hargitay and the Haim Sisters. However, a moment featuring ESPN and Knicks radio star Monica McNutt went viral when she suggested Swift wasn’t a Knicks fan.

The comments, caught on a live mic and in video footage, immediately brought backlash towards McNutt, as Swift’s fans criticized her for not realizing Swift’s fandom. Some mentioned an older photo of Swift wearing an Amar’e Stoudamire Knicks jersey.

McNutt clarified the next day while speaking to TMZ, and indicated she’d been covering the Knicks for five years and hadn’t seen Swift at games. She apologized for not knowing about Swift’s fandom.

Brunson also shared some words about McNutt to Swift’s fans, as McNutt interviewed the Knicks star after he won the championship.

“I just want to say something to the Swifties. She’s a really good one. Cut her some slack. It’s all good. I promise,” Brunson said, with McNutt thanking him.

During her apology on video, McNutt pointed out that Swift previously attended a New York Knicks game with fiance, NFL star Travis Kelce. However, Swift didn’t have any noticeable Knicks gear on for that NBA Playoffs game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nonetheless, Brunson has now become an instant legend and superstar in New York City thanks to his heroic efforts in multiple Knicks wins, including last night’s 45-point performance. That put him among elite NBA Finals company, which also included Giannis Antetokounmpo and Michael Jordan.
