MLB Shares Disappointing William Contreras Update Ahead of All-Star Game
After setting a franchise record for regular season wins in 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers are having another fantastic season in 2026. Following a series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend, the Brewers enter Monday with a 43-26 record. Standing atop the National League Central with a five-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee has established itself as a legitimate contender.
The Brewers' success has been fueled by elite pitching, as well as one of the league's best offenses. The Brewers rank fourth in team batting average and third in total runs. One of the driving forces behind the Brewers' offensive production has been 28-year-old catcher William Contreras.
Contreras, a two-time All-Star, has been one of baseball's premier catchers throughout the season. Despite his impressive production, however, Contreras received a disappointing update in the latest MLB All-Star voting results. On Monday, the Brewers shared an update on social media regarding the first round of 2026 MLB All-Star voting. The organization revealed that Contreras currently sits fourth among National League catchers, trailing Atlanta's Drake Baldwin, Los Angeles' Will Smith, and Philadelphia's J.T. Realmuto.
Milwaukee encouraged fans to continue voting for its players, including first baseman Jake Bauers and second baseman Brice Turang, emphasizing that several Brewers remain in striking distance of advancing to Phase 2 of the voting process.
"It's time to clutch up MKE. We have several players within striking distance of the top-2 spots, and they need your votes," the Brewers wrote on X.

Despite sitting outside the top two in the initial fan voting results, Contreras has assembled a compelling case for another All-Star appearance. In 65 games this season, Contreras is slashing .295/.352/.411 with six home runs and 43 RBIs.
The voting update has sparked a debate among Brewers fans online, as many suggest that Contreras is having a better season than both Realmuto and Smith. Among those three players, Contreras leads in nearly every major offensive category.
Regardless of whether Contreras is able to crack the top 2 in fan voting, his production has solidified his place as one of the best catchers in the Major Leagues.
As Phase 1 voting continues, Milwaukee will hope that his performance on the field ultimately translates into increased support at the ballot box.
