Latest Intel Explains Why Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Isn't Done Yet

At this rate, it seems to be only a matter of time before the Milwaukee Bucks trade away superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks initially were hoping to make a move by the time the 2026 NBA Draft begins on June 23, but with the clock ticking, it might take longer than they had expected.

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics look to be the two teams most commonly linked to an Antetokounmpo trade.

However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst explained why the Bucks haven't traded Antetokounmpo yet.

"Here's the issue: The Bucks seem to not be in love with the Heat's offer(s) and continue to discuss trade packages with other teams, team sources say. That said, Miami has been able to improve what it can offer since the trade deadline and can send a package headlined by the No. 13 pick in next week's draft plus various rotation players, namely Wisconsin native Tyler Herro, and prospects," Windhorst wrote in his latest intel piece.

The Heat have long been viewed as the favorites, and here's what a potential offer could look like from Miami:

  • Tyler Herro
  • Kel'el Ware
  • Jaime Jaquez Jr.
  • Pelle Larsson or Kasparas Jakucionis
  • Draft capital

But, according to Windhorst, the Bucks aren't "in love" with that type of offer, which has caued a bit of a stalemate on both sides.

The Heat made an offer for Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline, and even though the Bucks don't love the current package that has been discussed, all signs point to the Heat still being the favorite to land the superstar.

On Monday, Windhorst said Antetokounmpo is "focused" on going to Miami.

"Look, he has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat. And because he only has one year on his contract, he has some control over that," Windhorst said during an episode of "Get Up!"

The clock is ticking with the NBA Draft one week away, and the Heat might have no choice but to increase their offer, especially with the Celtics showing interest as well.
