One NBA Team Circling Around Duke's Cameron Boozer in NBA Draft

Now that the NBA Finals have wrapped up, the next big event ahead is the NBA draft. For basketball fans, it can’t get here soon enough.

The 2026 event is already shaping up to be an exciting draft packed with talented college players, all looking for their homes in the NBA. It takes place June 23 and 24, and it will air at 8 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN.

Duke standout Cameron Boozer has gotten more attention than most college players this draft cycle. Even though Duke didn’t go all the way in 2025, it didn’t sour his draft position at all. Scouts know a star when they see one.

Boozer was a breakout star at Duke, averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, according to ESPN research, and shooting 55.6% from the field.

Jeremy Woo of ESPN thinks Boozer is a lock for the Memphis Grizzlies.

“Since the draft lottery on May 10, the assumption around the NBA has been that Memphis would be thrilled to select Boozer,” he says in the piece. “He is viewed as an excellent match for what the Grizzlies value and holds a strong case as the best player available here. Boozer and Caleb Wilson are both considered candidates, but Boozer’s winning résumé and exceptional analytic profile is expected to appeal to Memphis in particular.”

Is Cameron Boozer a Fit for Memphis?

Boozer would be a good fit for a variety of teams in the NBA, but he’s extra good for Memphis. They could use a versatile power forward/center like Boozer, and he has the potential to be a real star. He already has the name recognition. Don’t kid yourself. That means something. But he also has raw talent.

Boozer would bring a fresh attitude to the Grizzlies, a team that’s in real need of a rebuild. He could also make for an apt frontcourt partner for Zach Edey and take some of the pressure off Edey.
