Knicks Fans Urging ESPN Reporter Vincent Goodwill To Leave Parade

ESPN senior writer Vincent Goodwill is at the New York Knicks' championship parade this Thursday, much to the dismay of most fans in the Big Apple.

Goodwill, who joined ESPN in September 2025, went viral this week because of a rant about dynasties and whether they're good for the NBA. He made it known that he's not happy about eight different teams winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy since 2019.

"Dynasty is better for the sport," Goodwill said. "I like to know that greatness is validated. How do we know that any of the last eight champions are actually validated because they have not done it again? Giannis is itching to get out, Boston is thinking about trading Jaylen Brown, they don't believe in their one championship. LeBron's one championship in LA was not enough. So why would it be enough for us?"

ESPN analyst Alan Hahn told Goodwill that each champion doesn't need validation because they have the Larry O'Brien Trophy. That led to this ridiculous comment from Goodwill: "You mean participation trophy?"

Despite taking a jab at the Knicks' championship, Goodwill showed up to the Canyon of Heroes to watch their players receive a warm welcome from their fans. Unsurprisingly, he was met with plenty of backlash.

"Not sure why ur going to the participation trophy parade," a fan sarcastically replied.

"Enjoy the participation trophy ceremony," a second fan said.

"Why are you attending our participation parade taking up a spot of someone who should actually be there? Fake reporter," another fan wrote.

"Get out of our city, only real fans or people who ACTUALLY played basketball are allowed in," a social media user declared.

Goodwill is covering the Knicks.

Oddly enough, Goodwill helped ESPN produce a special edition magazine regarding the Knicks and their championship run.

"The wait is over! For the first time in more than 50 years, the New York Knicks are NBA champions. In this commemorative special edition, ESPN celebrates the team, the city and the unforgettable journey that delivered the title. Relive every pivotal moment of the Knicks' championship run-the historic comebacks and defining wins that carried them through the playoffs," the description states. "Through expert analysis, stunning photography and behind-the-scenes reporting, this edition captures the emotion, intensity and resilience of a team led by Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, coach Mike Brown so many other key contributors."
