Tua Tagovailoa Gets a Boost of Confidence With the Falcons

Tua Tagovailoa played for six seasons for the Miami Dolphins.

Even though Tagovailoa had some success with the franchise during the regular season, the team never even notched a win in the playoffs.

So, following the 2025 season, the Dolphins made changes. They released Tagovailoa, and he signed to the Atlanta Falcons. The Dolphins also parted ways with head coach Mike McDaniel.

Both the Tagovailoa and McDaniel moves were a bit controversial. But, when a team struggles as much as the Dolphins have lately, big changes are usually made, whether or not they need to happen.

Now, Tagovailoa is with the Falcons, and he has a second chance. This might prove to be the right fit for him, too.

Seriously. Sometimes, all a quarterback needs is a change of scenery. One NFL analyst who thinks Tagovailoa could fly with the Falcons is Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report. In a feature out Tuesday, he urges the team to name Tagovailoa the starting quarterback now.

“With a new regime in place, the Atlanta Falcons can start fresh, specifically at quarterback,” he says in the piece. “The new front office didn’t select Michael Penix Jr. in the top 10 of the 2024 NFL draft. Instead, a healthy Tua Tagovailoa is a better fit in Kevin Stefanski’s offense thanks to his accuracy and experience.”

Why Tua Tagovailoa Could Thrive With the Falcons

So, why could Tagovailoa do for the Falcons what he couldn’t with the Dolphins? It’s simple. He has an entirely new team and coaching staff by his side.

Of course, it could go either way, but if the Falcons make him starter right away, he’ll hit the field with a fairly solid offensive line behind him. The Falcons were 8-9 last season, which isn’t a terrible record, so he’s stepping into a situation that’s already better for him than the Dolphins.
