Cameron Boozer Projected to Go to Surprising Team in NBA Draft

Cameron Boozer is one of the most buzzed-about players in the NBA draft.

He’s already a superstar. During March Madness, all eyes were on Boozer, and even though Duke got blasted out of the running earlier than expected, it didn’t hurt his draft stock.

Now, Boozer is expected to go inside the top five in the NBA Draft. But, he’s not usually expected to go as early as No. 2. Now, one NBA analyst, though, thinks that’s going to happen.

Cameron Salerno of CBS Sports thinks the Utah Jazz will go with Boozer at No. 2.

“This is where the first curveball of the draft might come. If Dybantsa is off the board first, Utah will have a decision to make between Boozer and Peterson,” he says in the piece, meaning Darryn Peterson. “My prediction is that Boozer will be the pick. He had one of the best one-and-done seasons in college basketball history at Duke and would add playmaking, rebounding and scoring to an already loaded Utah frontcourt. Boozer has almost become underrated this draft cycle. He would be the clear-cut No. 1 pick in most draft classes.”

Will the Jazz Surprise With a Cameron Boozer Pick?

Most mocks have Peterson going No. 2, but it’s easy to see why Boozer may go there instead. He’s already got more name recognition than many of the others in the draft, and don’t kid yourself. That means something.

Boozer is also a known talent. He played in all 38 games last season with the Duke Blue Devils and impressed. He also played long minutes and showed that he has the kind of stamina to make it in the NBA.

That’s really what puts Boozer above the others. The Jazz would know what they’re getting with Boozer. He’s shown the world what he’s capable of, not just in the NBA Combine, but on the court, where it matters most. So, yes, don’t be surprised if you hear Boozer’s name called second in the NBA Draft.
