Draymond Green Sends Blunt Message to Darryn Peterson Ahead of NBA Draft
Darryn Peterson is under a week away from seeing where he lands in the NBA Draft after a standout season with the Kansas Jayhawks, and rumors have been swirling about where he’ll go and his decision not to work out for a specific team.
That team is the Utah Jazz, who currently have the No. 2 pick, and many believe they’ll use it to select Peterson.
Instead, Peterson chose to give workouts for the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies, potentially showing his disinterest in the Jazz franchise.
During a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the Golden State Warriors star got brutally honest with Peterson ahead of the draft, reminding him it’s not going to matter where he wants to play.

“They [Utah Jazz] don't give a [expletive] … ask Steph Curry. He did not work out for the Warriors and asked them not to draft him … 18 years later, he's been with that same team the whole time,” Green shared.
“If they wanna draft Darryn Peterson when it comes time for their pick, they’re gonna draft Darryn Peterson,” he added.
Curry got drafted No. 7 overall in 2009 by the Warriors, and it obviously worked out quite well for him and the team, with four championships and many other accolades.
Would the same happen if Peterson ends up with the Jazz, or will he become a headache there and just wait on his chance to get out?
His choosing to skip a workout for Utah could show his confidence that he’ll be at least the second pick, or that he feels he’s got a shot at going first overall. There is also the possibility that the Grizzlies are looking to make a draft trade to land Peterson.
Utah is actually where the potential first pick, AJ Dybantsa, played college basketball for Brigham Young University. However, ESPN’s Jeremy Woo recently updated his draft board rankings to move Peterson ahead of Dybantsa as the first pick.
For many months, there’s been a strong belief that Dybantsa was the best overall player and would go No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards rather than falling to the second pick.
That would mean Peterson needs to adjust his attitude about being part of a Jazz team that struggled last season, following many seasons of notoriety behind stars, including John Stockton, Karl Malone, and Donovan Mitchell.
