NRFI, YRFI MLB Bets Today: Best First Inning Predictions for Saturday, June 20

Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes steps into the gauntlet known as Coors Field to face the Colorado Rockies. Do we envision a YRFI or an NRFI on Saturday? We like the NRFI in the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves matchup and lean toward YRFI in the desert as the Minnesota Twins face the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It's a typical jam-packed Saturday schedule with about half of the games starting in the afternoon. So get those bets placed early.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Pittsburgh Pirates at Colorado Rockies YRFI (-140)

Something is up with Pirates RHP Paul Skenes. He's showing signs of being human after dominating the MLB for two and a half seasons. While his numbers at 6-6 and a 2.85 ERA aren't pedestrian, they just aren't on the same level they were. He has given up eight homers already after giving up 11 all of last season. He has made one career start in Coors, and he allowed four earned runs in five innings. The first inning has been one of his worst innings, too, with a 5.52 ERA. For the Rockies, RHP Tomoyuki Sugano has a 5.14 ERA in the first. We'll take our chances with the YRFI.

Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves NRFI (-155)

The Brew Crew sends LHP Kyle Harrison to the mound, and he's 8-1 with a 2.47 ERA on the season. That ERA is super inflated after giving up eight runs in 2 1/3 IP two starts ago. He gave up a total of one earned run in the five starts around that outing. Harrison's first-inning ERA is at 2.08 on the season. Braves LHP Chris Sale is a formidable opponent at 8-5 with a 2.30 ERA on the season. He doesn't play games in the first, either, with a 1.38 ERA and 18 K's in 13 first frames.

Minnesota Twins at Arizona Diamondbacks YRFI (-140)

Hard-throwing RHP Taj Bradley goes for the Twins. He's 5-3 with a 4.14 ERA, but he's a mess in the first inning with a 7.62 ERA through 13 starts. D-Backs RHP Zac Gallen is a shell of the pitcher who was in the Cy Young race a couple of years ago at 3-5 with a 5.35 ERA. His ERA in the first inning is 6.00. With all of these factors in place, and in a hitters' park, we're going for the YRFI.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
