U.S. Advances To World Cup Knockout Round - Here's The Projected Schedule
The United States men's national team only needed two World Cup matches to outright win Group D.
After securing a dominant 4-1 win over Paraguay, the United States jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over Australia this Friday. Although the USMNT was a bit loose in the second half, Mauricio Pochettino's squad picked up another three points to pull away from the competition in Group D.
"You know, [if] someone said before the tournament two games and you're through to the knockouts, I think we all would have took it," U.S. striker Folarin Balogun said. "We're delighted."
Next up for the United States is a showdown with Türkiye. The final group stage match for the USMNT is set for June 25.
Let's get an early look at the knockout rounds.
It turns out the USMNT's Round of 32 match will take place on July 1 in Santa Clara, California. That match will obviously be televised on FOX.
As of this moment, the USMNT is expected to square off against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32.
If the U.S. takes care of business, its Round of 16 match would be slated for July 6 in Seattle, Washington. The quarterfinals, meanwhile, are set for July 10 in Inglewood, California.
We won't get too far ahead and start planning a U.S. trip to the final, but this team has absolutely given its fan base something to believe in.
