Report: Giannis Antetokounmpo Expected To Be Traded Monday
Is a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade happening on Monday?
The Milwaukee Bucks are widely expected to move on from their NBA championship-winning forward. Multiple NBA teams, including the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat, have been linked strongly to the All-NBA forward. With the offseason here and the NBA Draft set for Tuesday night, it's possible that a trade could be happening soon.
Bill Simmons said on his podcast on Sunday evening that he still believes that the Celtics will emerge as the landing spot for Giannis. The Celtics are expected to include NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown in the trade. Simmons expects the trade could happen as early as Monday, June 22.
Ultimately, the Giannis sweepstakes are believed to be down to the Celtics and the Heat right now.
Two NBA teams remain involved on Giannis trade
According to Marc Stein, the Celtics and the Heat remain very involved in the Giannis sweepstakes.
"It realistically should be Miami, since the Heat have been aggressively pursuing an Antetokounmpo deal since February, but Milwaukee's apparent determination to drag the talks out so long has created a measure of ambiguity," Stein believes.
"Was this all an exercise to try to coerce the Heat into sweetening their offer at the finish line? Or are the Bucks about to really seize upon an offer they like better, from Boston or elsewhere, that furnishes them with at least one additional first-round pick in the fast-approaching draft and plenty more to leave the Heat jilted at the star-chasing altar yet again?"
"League sources say that the Heat remain in full-speed pursuit of Antetokounmpo, but also indicate that the Boston Celtics have not yet abandoned hope of completing a trade for The Greek Freak."
Stay tuned, because it seems like something could be happening as early as Monday.
