Blue Jays Forced Into Shane Bieber Decision After Sunday's News
Shane Bieber watched as the Toronto Blue Jays improved to 38-39 on the 2026 MLB season following an 8-6 win over Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Now, the Blue Jays will look to make it two straight wins when they return to Toronto to face the Houston Astros on Monday night.
Bieber has now entered his second season with the Blue Jays after being acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in a July 2025 trade. The right-handed pitcher started seven games for Toronto in 2025, posting a 4-2 record with 37 strikeouts and a 3.57 ERA. Bieber also helped the Blue Jays reach the World Series, appearing in five postseason games.
But ahead of his second season in Toronto, Bieber was placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow. However, the issue proved to be more serious, with the Blue Jays transferring their star to the 60-day injured list in April, causing Bieber to miss the entire season so far.
However, after missing the first 77 games of the season, Bieber was set to make his season debut on Monday against the Astros. But after Sunday's Blue Jays vs. Cubs game was postponed due to inclement weather, Bieber will now make his season debut Tuesday against the Cubs, with Dylan Cease set to get the starting nod on Monday.
