Tracking local golfers in the FedEx Cup playoffs for Aug. 27, 2015

This week: The Barclays, Thursday through Sunday, Plainfield Country Club, Edison, New Jersey.

In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore and Olympia’s Andres Gonzales.

First-round scores: Moore and Gonzales each shot a 5-over-par 75.

Positions: Both locals are tied for 102nd, 10 strokes behind co-leaders Tony Finau, Spencer Levin, Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson (65).

Recap: It seems every golfer has one tournament where he just can’t find the groove. And this is it for Moore, who shot his fourth consecutive round in the 70s at this event. He finished last year’s tournament with a 76 and opened this one with a 75. The troubles began on the 17th hole where Moore was issued a two-stroke penalty for hitting playing partner Bill Haas’ golf ball and made a double bogey-6. He made four more bogeys on his final nine, at Nos. 2, 5, 8 and 9. … Gonzales’ stay in the FedEx Cup playoffs might be short-lived — he needs to finish in the top 45 to continue in the playoffs. His drive at the 13th hole went so far right that he incurred a one-shot penalty and had to go back to the tee. His second drive went into the left rough, and he finished with a triple bogey-7.

Tee times Friday: Moore at 5:26 a.m. (PDT) and Gonzales at 5:48 a.m. Both go off the first tee.
