Tracking local golfers on the PGA Tour for Oct. 16, 2015
This week: Frys.com Open, Thursday through Sunday, Silverado Country Club North Course, Napa, California.
In the field: Puyallup’s Ryan Moore and Olympia’s Andres Gonzales.
Second-round scores: Moore shot a 2-under-par 70, and Gonzales shot an even-par 72.
Positions: Moore (2-under 142) is tied for 56th, nine strokes behind leader Brendan Steele (11-under 133). Gonzales (1-over 145) missed the cut.
Recap: Silverado North played nearly a stroke more difficult Friday — and that was good news for Moore, who made the cut right on the nose. He two-putted from 40 feet at No. 18 to make the turn at 1 under. And he made a birdie at another par-5 hole by sinking a 30-footer at No. 5 to get to 3 under on his round before he made a pair of quick bogeys. … Gonzales made two quick birdies, including a 20-footer at No. 12, to get to 2 under on his round. But he failed to get up-and-down from the right apron on the next hole and missed a 10-footer to save par. That started a run of back-to-back bogeys.
Moore’s tee time Saturday: 10:55 a.m. (PDT) off the 10th tee.
