Garfield guard Daejon Davis announces commitment to play basketball for the Huskies (again)

Garfield High School guard Daejon Davis says he will play basketball for the Washington Huskies, after all.

After committing to UW in August 2015 before de-committing in April, Davis announced on Monday -- two days before the beginning of college basketball’s early signing period -- that he will indeed sign with the Huskies.

Davis, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard who is considered a 4-star recruit and the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2017 class by Scout.com, chose UW over other finalists Oregon and Gonzaga.

He is the fifth player to commit to the Huskies in what will be one of the highest-rated recruiting classes in the country. The group is headlined by five-star Nathan Hale High School forward Michael Porter Jr., the son of new UW assistant coach Michael Porter Sr., and also includes Garfield star guard Jaylen Nowell, point guard Blake Harris from Raleigh, North Carolina, and 6-foot-9 forward Mamoudou Diarra from St. Louis Christian Academy.

Prior to Davis’ re-commitment, Scout.com ranked UW’s 2017 class No. 4 in the nation.
