UW Huskies’ 2020 football schedule released
Washington won’t be easing into Pac-12 play in 2020.
The Huskies’ only idle week will follow their final non-conference game against Utah State on Sept. 19. When they return on Oct. 3, they will open the conference schedule on the road against Oregon. The Ducks won the 2019 Pac-12 championship and topped Wisconsin 28-27 in the Rose Bowl.
After a home game against Oregon State on Oct. 10, UW will face Utah — the back-to-back Pac-12 South champions — on the road on Oct. 17.
The Huskies will then face Arizona at home on Friday, Oct. 23 before traveling to Cal (Oct. 31). After facing Stanford at home (Nov. 7) and traveling to USC (Nov. 14), UW will wrap up its home schedule against Colorado on Nov. 21. The Apple Cup will take place on Friday, Nov. 27 at Washington State.
The Huskies won’t play any conference games against teams coming off a bye, but they also have the earliest idle week of any Pac-12 team not playing in Week 0.
The Huskies will open the season, their first under new head coach Jimmy Lake, at home against Michigan on Sept. 5. The Wolverines finished the 2019 season 9-4, falling to Alabama 35-16 in the Citrus Bowl.
Washington State will open the season at Utah State on Sept. 5 and will have an idle week on Oct. 24. The Cougars will close the regular season with consecutive home games against Oregon and and UW.
Both UW and Washington State will have new head coaches this season. While Lake took over for Chris Petersen — he decided to step down from coaching and will have a leadership advisory role in the Huskies’ athletic department — former Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich replaced Mike Leach. Leach left to take over as the head coach at Mississippi State.
The Pac-12 and its network partners typically announce kickoff times and television arrangements for the first three weeks of the season and most non-Saturday games around June 1. All other game times are released after the start of the season, usually on the Monday 12 days before.
