Former O’Dea guard, WSU transfer announces commitment to UW Huskies basketball team
Noah Williams announced Monday afternoon he is headed back to Seattle.
The former O’Dea High School basketball standout, who played his first three college seasons in Pullman at Washington State, posted Monday on social media he is returning to play for the hometown Huskies.
Williams, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound junior guard, was a regular starter at WSU each of the past three seasons and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Williams appeared in 91 games (including 65 starts) at WSU while averaging 25.7 minutes. He was also among the Cougars’ top three scorers in each of his final two seasons with the program and leaves WSU with career averages of 9.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
In three college seasons, he has shot 36.8 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from 3-point range and 74.7 percent from the free throw line.
Williams posted his best career numbers as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season when he averaged 14.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 40.6 percent from the field.
His decision to return home to Seattle and play at UW comes six days after he announced he was entering the transfer portal.
Prior to WSU, Williams played four years for Class 3A basketball power O’Dea, where he averaged double figures each of his high school seasons.
O’Dea reached the state playoffs three times during his career, including advancing to the 3A championship game his freshman and senior seasons, and winning a title his final year in 2019.
He averaged a career-best 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists that season and scored 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting while pulling down six rebounds in the championship game win.
Williams was considered a four-star recruit by ESPN out of high school, a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com and reported four offers from both UW and WSU, Buffalo and Virginia Tech.
