GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN 35, EMERALD RIDGE 0

The Eagles continued their dominance against the 4A SPSL, this time it came against the Jaguars. Senior running back Zack Lee had arguably the biggest night as he and the rest of the squad prepare for the playoffs just on the horizon.

Lee quite literally carried the Eagle offense by taking the ball 11 times and running it for 158 yards and two touchdowns. He wasn’t the only Eagle running back to get in on the scoring either as junior Jalen Davenport carried the ball seven times for 69 yards and a score, and junior Khalil Yarbo also rushed seven times for 51 yards and a score.

Joshua Wood continued his stellar senior season by going 6-of-12 passing, throwing for 114 yards and a score. The lone receiver to score was junior Michael Toa, catching the ball once for 20 yards.

Seniors Alden Save and Andrew Savaiinea recorded a sack each on defense for the Eagles as well.

TUMWATER 50, BLACK HILLS 7

Alex Overbay threw only three passes, but two of them went for Tumwater touchdowns in a 50-7 win over Black Hills on Friday night.

The T-Birds scored a trio of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter, and three more passing scores in the second. By halftime, they led 42-0, and cruised to victory.

Carlos Matheney scored Tumwater’s first points on a four-yard rushing score. Before the end of the first quarter, Payton Hoyt had scampered in for a 20-yard touchdown, and Ashton Paine added a 32-yard touchdown rush.

Overbay opened the second quarter with a 68-yard touchdown pass to Austin Terry.

Hoyt, who led the team with 60 rushing yards on nine carries, threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Otton that extended Tumwater’s lead to 35.

To end the first-half scoring, more than half of Overbay’s passing yards came on an 85-yard strike to Seth Weller that went for six.

Following the intermission, Black Hills scored their first points on a one-yard quarterback sneak. But that’s all Ryan Otton and the Thunderbird defense would allow.

Otton led both defenses with four solo tackles and a sack.

Zach Summers punched in an eight-yard touchdown run for Tumwater in the third, and Brady Prothero dashed for a two-point conversion.

Tumwater moved to 3-0 in 2A Evergreen play. In those games, they’ve scored 141 points to their opponents’ seven.

ENUMCLAW 21, ORTING 14

Enumclaw and Orting went blow-for-blow, but the Hornets held on for a 21-14 win on Friday night.

Just minutes into the game, Orting’s defense held the Hornet offense at the four-yard line, shifting the momentum in what was still a scoreless game. But four players later, Orting threw a pick six at the hands of Enumclaw’s Dylan Watterson.

After one quarter, Enumclaw led, 7-0.

In the second quarter, Orting’s Elijah Burbridge continued what would become a monster night. His 32-yard rushing score tied the game; he’d finish with 108 yards on the ground on just eight carries.

Enumclaw tied the game on a 10-yard touchdown pass — and led at halftime by seven — but Burbridge would score again to open the second half, this time recovering a fumble for a 34-yard scoop-and-score.

In a tie game, Enumclaw marched down nearly the entire length of field and reclaimed the lead on a two-yard touchdown run. They’d take a 21-14 lead into the fourth quarter, and both offenses failed to score in the final period.

The Hornets moved to 6-2, and are now 5-1 in 2A SPSL play.

In addition to Burbridge’s big rushing night, the Orting senior added a dozen solo tackles and 11 assists with fumble return touchdown. Offensively, Aiden Herd dashed for 43 yards on nine carries for the Cardinals.

AUBURN RIVERSIDE 51, KENTLAKE 7

Senior Thaddeus Umi-Tuato’o had such an electric night for the Ravens that his 151 rushing yards on 13 carries were enough to outdo the entire Falcon offense, which gained a total of 130 yards.

After a fumble recovery that placed the Ravens at the Falcons’ 21-yard line, Umi-Tuato’o would score his first of four touchdowns on the night one play later. After that score, the rest of the flock never looked back.

Umi-Tuato’o would score three more times, including on a 26-yard punt return in the second quarter.

BONNEY LAKE 49, MOUNT TAHOMA 20

Senior running back Mason McBride was all over the field for the Panthers in their win against the T-Birds. Not only did McBride carry the ball nine times for 128 yards and a touchdown, he also ran in a kickoff for a touchdown as well.

It wasn’t all McBride in the offense, however, as senior Connor Goff got in on the fun. As a receiver, Goff is used to catching and then running the ball. In order to give the T-Birds a different look than they were expecting, the Panthers incorporated some trickery to their traditional power run game.

Goff came away with 73 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

SUMNER 35, BELLARMINE PREP 7

After a slow start and scoreless first quarter, the Spartan offense began to ramp it up with senior quarterback Bo Carlson being responsible for four of the five scores on the night. And with the win, Sumner is in sole possession of second place in the 4A SPSL.

Carlson’s big night began early in the second quarter when he ran the ball in for a 5-yard touchdown to break the scoreless tie. As halftime loomed with less than a minute to go, Carlson again ran the ball in for a one-yard touchdown to give the Spartans momentum for the second half.

After a 10-yard run from senior fullback Eric Bruck, Carlson began to work the scoreboard with his arm. The senior quarterback tossed two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter; one for 41 yards to senior Wyatt Redding and the other for 20 yards to senior receiver Jalen Jordan.

FIFE 41, WASHINGTON 0

Once Chase Cretti took an opening-quarter interception to the house, the rout was on.

His 50-yard pick six opened Saturday night’s scoring, and Fife dominated Washington in a 41-0 rout.

The Trojan defense worked a shutout, but Fife’s offense offered plenty of insurance. After Cretti’s interception return, Jairo Ramirez ran for a 53-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and Fife led by 13.

In the second, Roy Lockley extended the Fife lead to 20 on a three-yard touchdown rush.

The Trojan rushing attack headlined the opening half, but the remainder of the night belonged to Dylan Goldstrom.

Fife’s quarterback threw three touchdowns after halftime that pushed the lead to 41. Goldstrom found Ramirez and Tino Asoau for a pair of 43 and 44-yard passing touchdowns in the third quarter, respectively.

In the fourth quarter, Goldstrom hit Matai Sarte for a 15-yard score. He’d finish with 166 yards through the air.

Ramirez finished with 54 yards on five carries. Asoau caught two balls for 101 yards and a score, and Ramirez’s lone catch was his 43-yard touchdown catch.

Fife moved to 3-2 in 2A SPSL play.
