Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Oct. 25 to 30)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Oct. 25 to 30). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Payton Martinson, Sumner soccer
Martinson scored the game-winning goal from 30 yards away in the 78th minute to give Sumner the 1-0 win over Kennedy Catholic and punch the Spartans’ ticket to state.

Joshua Collie, Spanaway Lake: Rushed 16 times for 226 yards and three touchdowns in 32-21 win over Lakes.
Jake Bice, Peninsula: Seahawks’ QB completed 10-of-14 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns in 50-6 win over Capital.
Bo Carlson, Sumner: Spartans’ QB threw for 303 yards, six touchdowns and an interception in 49-13 win over Olympia.
Parker Born, Gig Harbor: Caught six passes for 90 yards and a touchdown in 28-6 win over River Ridge. Defensively, had six solo tackles, three tackle assists and a sack.
Dylan Watterson, Enumclaw: Caught three passes for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 31-6 win over White River.
De’Andre Napier, Steilacoom: Rushed 19 times for 256 yards and three touchdowns in 49-7 win over Fife.

Analise Rose, Stadium soccer: Scored the game-winning goal for Stadium in 1-0 win over Thomas Jefferson.
Caitlin Laakso, Peninsula soccer: Scored Peninsula’s opening goal off a free kick in the 13th minute in Peninsula’s 3-2 win over Mountain View.
Lateibreon Chandler, Auburn: Rushed once for eight yards, had four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown and had three interceptions on defense in 56-12 win over Decatur.
Ashley Jones, Gig Harbor soccer: Senior defender scored a goal against River Ridge and was an integral part of Gig Harbor’s clean sheet in 9-0 win over Kentlake.
Cruize Corvin, Lakes cross country: Won the District 3/4 championship race at Chambers Creek on Saturday, clocking in at 15 minutes, 37.7 seconds.
Samiah Shell, Auburn Riverside soccer: Scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in Auburn Riverside’s 3-2 win over Central Kitsap to clinch a state berth for the Ravens.
