Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Nov. 8 to 13)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Nov. 8 to 13). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Emmit Otero, Enumclaw
Otero rushed 19 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-28 state tournament win over Hockinson. He also caught the game-sealing interception. Enumclaw faces top-seeded Tumwater next in a rematch of a week one game.

Alejandra Ruppe, Steilacoom swim: Won a pair of titles at the Class 2A state swim meet at the King County Aquatic Center in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Jay Mentink, Sumner: Had three interceptions in Sumner’s 24-10 win over Skyview.
Emmit Otero, Enumclaw: Rushed 19 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns in 38-28 win over Hockinson. Also caught the game-sealing interception.
Leo Pulalasi, Lakes: Rushed 13 times for 120 yards and a touchdown in Lakes 42-21 loss to Bellevue.
Gabi Bellin, Curtis swim: Senior won the Class 4A state title in the 200-yard freestyle and took third in the 100 free.
Julian Mason, Graham-Kapowsin: Caught seven passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in Graham-Kapowsin’s win over Kentwood.
De’Andre Napier, Steilacoom: Rushed 28 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns and caught a third touchdown pass in Steilacoom’s win over Othello.
Jasiah Wagoner, Spanaway Lake: Caught six passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in 26-21 loss to Kennewick.
Elise Miller, Gig Harbor soccer: Scored the opening goal in Gig Harbor’s 2-0 win over Snohomish.
Maya Knautz, Fife soccer: Scored a goal in Fife’s 2-1 loss to Columbia River.
Lauren Wittmers, Peninsula volleyball: In districts, senior setter had 89 assists, 20 digs, 10 kills and an 88 percent serving percentage.
Ella Hatteberg, Gig Harbor soccer: Had a goal and an assist in Gig Harbor’s state tourmament win over Bonney Lake.
