SATURDAY’S SCHEDULE (NOV. 27)

STATE PLAYOFFS

SEMIFINALS

4A

No. 3 Lake Stevens 45, No. 2 Eastlake 28, Final

Eastlake’s fourth-quarter touchdown brought the deficit to three, but Lake Stevens responded with 14 points to win their 4A semifinal game and secure a matchup with Graham Kapowsin for the title next weekend.

Eastlake’s Blake Borup punched in a one-yard run on fourth down that brought Lake Stevens’ lead to just 31-28, per Ryland Spencer of Cascadia Preps.

That’s when Grayson Murren found Drew Carter for a four-yard passing score, and Jayshon Limar found the end zone on a 29-yard rush that padded the Viking lead in the closing minutes.

Lake Stevens faces top-ranked Graham Kapowsin next weekend for the 4A state title.

No. 1 Graham Kapowsin 42, No. 4 Kamiakin 0, Final

The Eagles scored three touchdowns in the first half -- adding three more in the second -- and routed Kamiakin to secure the first state title game appearance in their program’s history.

By the fourth quarter, the Eagles had initiated a running clock. All six of their touchdowns were on the ground, the longest by quarterback Joshua Wood, who kept an option and dashed 25 yards for a touchdown in the final minutes of the second quarter.

What’s next for the undefeated Eagles? The chance to win it all. They’ll take to Mount Tahoma next weekend for the 4A title game, facing No. 3 Lake Stevens.

3A

No. 1 Bellevue 27, No. 5 Marysville-Pilchuck 3, Final

Marysville-Pilchuck led 3-0 at the half, but Bellevue rallied for four second-half rushing scores and advanced to the 3A state title game next weekend.

William Wang scored three of Bellevue’s rushing scores, his first giving the Wolverines a 7-3 lead in the second quarter, per Zac Hereth of the Everett Herald. Ishaan Daniels scored the other, breaking off a 65-yard run that gave Bellevue a three-score lead late in the third quarter.

Next Saturday’s 3A title game at Sparks Stadium features Bellevue and No. 6 Kennewick with a state title on the line.

No. 6 Kennewick 14, No. 2 Eastside Catholic 7, Final

Simeon Howard’s pick-six was the deciding play.

Kennewick’s senior defensive back cut off Brady McKelheer’s pass, and dashed for a 62-yard interception return that propelled the Lions over Eastside Catholic on Saturday evening in the state semifinals.

After Howard’s defensive score, Eastside Catholic avoided the shutout when Chase Hamdan punched in a one-yard score to draw closer in the third quarter, 14-7, per Matt Massey of the Seattle Times.

The Crusaders actually tied the game in the fourth quarter on an 88-yard punt return touchdown, but a holding call wiped away the score. Kennewick’s defense held on, and punched their ticket to the 3A title game next weekend.

The Lions face top-ranked Bellevue at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup on Dec. 4 with a championship trophy on the line.

2A

No. 1 Tumwater 14, No. 4 Squalicum 3, Final

Although there was not a lot of offense, the T-Birds scored all they needed to before the end of the first half to win over the Storm.

Both scores came in the second quarter for the T-Birds. The first was a senior tight end Ryan Otton reception from junior quarterback Alex Overbay. The second was carried in by Payton Hoyt.

No. 2 Lynden 15, No. 3 North Kitsap 10, Final

Punts, turnovers on downs, and blocked field goals.

It wasn’t pretty.

But at the end of it all, second-ranked Lynden had outpaced the visiting North Kitsap Vikings, and booked their tickets to next weekend’s 2A state title game against Tumwater.

Six minutes into the game, Lynden scored the game’s first points on a safety. North Kitsap botched a punt and airmailed the snap through the end zone, per Hailey Palmer of the Cascadia Daily News.

Lynden added a touchdown in the first half, and led 9-3 at halftime. But the Vikings would take a one-point lead in the fourth quarter when Colton Bower punched in a one-yard rushing score.

It took an 80-yard drive from Lynden in the closing minutes that ended in a one-yard touchdown from Cade Slayton.

The Lions now go to Sparks Stadium in a matchup with Tumwater next weekend for the 2A state championship.

1A

No. 1 Royal 35, No. 5 King’s 14, Final

Senior quarterback Derek Bergerson’s interception in the first quarter did not rattle Royal. In fact, they came back immediately for 35 unanswered points and the win in the 1A state semifinal round.

Bergerson was responsible for four of the five Royal touchdowns in the game. Three of which were passing, including a 21-yard completion to senior receiver Luke Bergerson, and one was a four-yard rush near the beginning of the second quarter.

No. 2 Eatonville 38, No. 3 Lynden Christian 6, Final

Lynden Christian never held a lead. And Eatonville would take over by the second quarter.

Cruisers QB Kevin Wulff lit up the Lyncs behind five total touchdowns, and Eatonville locked up a spot in next weekend’s 1A state title game.

Eatonville’s offense put up just six points in the opening quarter, but Wulff ran for two scores and hit Job Kralik for a 37-yard touchdown pass that put the Cruisers up big at half. They’d roll through the second half — and shut out Lynden Christian along the way — en route to a 38-6 win on Saturday.

That sets up Eatonville with top-seeded Royal for the 1A title, next Saturday at Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

2B

No. 2 Napavine 42, No. 3 Okanogan 10, Final

Napavine exploded for 28 second-half points, and blew past Okanogan to secure an appearance in next weekend’s 2B state title game.

Per Alec Dietz of The Chronicle, Okanogan added a field goal before halftime that cut their deficit to just four points, 14-10. But the Tigers wouldn’t allow another point, and downed the Bulldogs for a 42-10 win.

Napavine will face No. 1 Kalama in next weekend’s state title game.

No. 1 Kalama 46, No. 5 Onalaska 30, Final

An early defensive stand and a few big plays for the Chinooks helped lift them over the Loggers in their 2B semifinal matchup.

The Chinooks got on the board first when senior quarterback Jackson Esary hit senior receiver Jack Doerty for a 69-yard score. Esary ran in the two-point conversion as well. Then he scampered in a 58-yard run for another touchdown to go up 14-0.

Esary would throw three more touchdowns and run for one more as well, carrying the Chinooks to the 2B title game where they will play against Napavine. -- Info provided by Eric Trent (@RealEricTrent).

1B

No. 1 Almira-Coulee-Hartline 68, No. 5 Naselle 32, Final

It just took 15 seconds for the Warriors to take the lead in their game against the Comets as they poured on the scoring throughout the 1B semifinal match up.

At the half, it was 52-14 thanks to five touchdowns from senior receiver Grady Murray. He would get one more in the third quarter. By the end of the fourth quarter, the second team was in for the Warriors.

No. 3 Quilcene 36, No. 2 Odessa 12, Final

Injuries were too much for Tigers as they lost their starting quarterback and junior running back Anthony Elder at separate points in the game. Those losses hindered their offense from doing too much scoring.

The Rangers on the other hand were able to lead methodical drives that more often than not resulted in scoring touchdowns. In fact, they opened up the second half with a kick return for a touchdown to distance themselves from the Tigers.
