Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Jan. 24 to 29)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Jan. 24 to 29). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Jada Travis, Bellarmine

She scored a game-high 21 points in 60-47 win over Emerald Ridge.

Lainee Houillon, Sumner: Sophomore scored 19 points in Sumner’s 79-18 win over Puyallup, capping off an undefeated run through the 4A SPSL.

Miles Gurske, Timberline: Led the Blazers with 30 points in a 83-76 win over Central Kitsap.

Luke Shillito, Bellarmine: Scored 18 points in Lions’ 67-50 win over Emerald Ridge.

John Barbee Jr., Franklin Pierce: Scored 25 points in 63-60 loss to Enumclaw in 2A SPSL matchup.

Rosie Penke, Enumclaw: Led the Hornets with 13 points in a 77-48 win over Franklin Pierce.

Zionna Barbee, Franklin Pierce: Scored 24 points in 77-48 loss to Enumclaw.

Luke Browne, Gig Harbor: Scored 16 points against Decatur, 16 against Capital and 27 points with 10 rebounds against Clover Park.

Bella Brady, Steilacoom: Against Orting on Tuesday, had 15 points, 21 rebounds, four assists, three steals, four blocks. In another game against Orting just two days later, she had 26 points, 15 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks.

Taylor Whaley, Olympia: Bears’ junior guard had 19 points, six rebounds and two assists in Olympia’s 58-47 win over Puyallup.

Luke Ellison, Black Hills: Scored 29 points against W.F. West and 30 against Shelton, including the game-winning buzzer-beater.

Demarea Garman-Wilkins, Foss: Scored 32 points for the Falcons against Washington.

Jada Travis, Bellarmine: Scored a game-high 21 points in 60-47 win over Emerald Ridge.
