Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Feb. 14 to 19)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Feb. 14 to 19). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

With an incredible 33,258 votes cast in her favor, this week’s winner is:

Zeta Lee, Mount Tahoma

Lee won a state title in the girls 110-pound weight class at the Mat Classic state wrestling tournament at the Tacoma Dome last weekend. She became the first wrestler from the school to ever win a title in the girls division and the second wrestler in Mount Tahoma’s history to win a state title, and the first in 50 years, joining Ron Gunns, who won a 4A title at 101 pounds in 1972.

“I feel accomplished. I feel proud,” Lee told The News Tribune on Saturday. “It was good experience. I’m proud to be the first girl at Mount Tahoma to win state.”

Stone Hartford, South Kitsap: Sophomore wrestler won a 4A Mat Classic state title in the 120-pound weight class.

Mitchell Neiner, South Kitsap: Junior wrestler won a 4A Mat Classic state title in the 126-pound weight class.

Cody Miller, Sumner: Sophomore wrestler won a 4A Mat Classic state title in the 152-pound weight class.

Mateo De La Pena, Kennedy Catholic: Senior wrestler won a 4A Mat Classic state title in the 160-pound weight class.

Christopher Neal, Tahoma: Junior wrestler won a 4A Mat Classic state title in the 170-pound weight class.

Elijah Carter, Silas: Junior wrestler won a 3A Mat Classic state title in the 120-pound weight class.

Cole Cross, Auburn Riverside: Senior wrestler won a 3A Mat Classic state title in the 138-pound weight class.sr. (138)

Logan Platt, Yelm: Senior wrestler won a 3A Mat Classic state title in the 195-pound weight class.

Alan Salguero, Orting: Freshman wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 106-pound weight class.

Quentin Harding, Orting: Freshman wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 113-pound weight class.

Apollo Cruz, Orting: Sophomore wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 120-pound weight class.

Bryan Dickerson, Orting: Sophomore wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 126-pound weight class.

Owen Cline, Orting: Senior wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 138-pound weight class.

Dalton Reed, Orting: Junior wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 182-pound weight class.

Elliot Carlsson, Steilacoom: Senior wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 195-pound weight class.

Logan Lisherness, White River: Junior wrestler won a 2A Mat Classic state title in the 285-pound weight class.

Zeta Lee, Mount Tahoma: Sophomore wrestler won a girls Mat Classic state title in the 110-pound weight class.

Shelby Moore, White River: Junior wrestler won a girls Mat Classic state title in the 130-pound weight class.

Clarissa Wangen, Curtis: Sophomore wrestler won a girls Mat Classic state title in the 145-pound weight class.

Connor McPhail, Steilacoom: Took third place in diving in the 2A state swim and dive meet at the King County Aquatic Center.

Nick Ponnekanti, Stadium: Took first place in diving in the 3A state swim and dive meet at the King County Aquatic Center.

Drew Huston, Gig Harbor: Won the 200 individual medley with an All-American consideration time of 1 minute, 50.65 seconds in the 3A state swim meet at the King County Aquatic Center.

Patrick Keough, Curtis: Won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle state titles at the 4A state swim and dive meet at the King County Aquatic Center.

Alyson Deaver, Sumner: Scored a game-high 15 points in Sumner’s 54-36 win over Emerald Ridge in the 4A District 3/4 girls basketball championship game.

Cinque Maxwell, Curtis: Scored 19 points in Curtis’ 77-56 win over Tahoma in the 4A District 3/4 boys basketball championship game.

Isabella Lund, Tumwater: Scored 17 points and drained four 3-pointers in Tumwater’s 59-46 win over Hudson’s Bay in the 2A District 4 title game.

Luke Browne, Gig Harbor: Scored 27 points against Lincoln, 20 against Evergreen and 24 against Spanaway Lake to help Gig Harbor reach the 3A state tournament.
