Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (April 25 to 30)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (April 25 to 30). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Aiden Jackson, Bellarmine baseball

On Saturday, he went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, walk, stolen bases and three runs scored in a 16-10 win over Bethel, giving the Lions three wins in a row.

Austin Egan, Rogers baseball: The junior pitcher tossed a complete-game shutout against Curtis, throwing seven innings, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out one in 4-0 win.

Brady Altman, Gig Harbor baseball: In 8-6 win over crosstown rival Peninsula, Altman went 3-for-4 with the go-ahead RBI triple and three stolen bases.

Payton Knowles, Peninsula baseball: In two games, went 4-for-6 with a double, three runs scored, two RBI, two walks and a stolen base, leading the Seahawks to their first league championship since 2012.

Duren Miller, Peninsula baseball: Went 3-for-6 in two games against Gig Harbor with a double, triple, two runs scored, four RBI and two walks.

Justin Bodnar, Peninsula soccer: Senior striker had the game-winning goal against Central Kitsap on Tuesday, scoring on a free kick from 25 yards out to seal the league title. Finished off the week with another goal in a 3-0 win over Timberline, bringing his season totals to 16 goals and three assists.

Eliza White, Curtis track: Ran a personal record 4 minute, 48.56 second mile at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays as Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon, finishing in third place overall.

Gavin Sheets, Peninsula baseball: Tossed 4.2 innings in 3A SSC title clinching win over Gig Harbor, allowing two runs, a walk and striking out five.

Cody Goth, Steilacoom track: Senior distance runner ran a personal record 4 minute, 27.34 second mile at the 62nd Shelton Invitational, taking fight place overall.

Aidan Rady, Steilacoom baseball: Senior pitched rossed a complete-game shutout against Fife, allowing just two hits on Friday.

Alli Kimball, Peninsula softball: In four games last week, Kimball pitched 15 innings, recording 31 strikeouts, walking none and allowing no runs. She pitched a seven-inning shutout against Yelm and a perfect game against Central Kitsap. At the plate, she went 10-for-13 with five singles, two doules, a triple, two home runs and four walks.

Kwame Amissah-Arthur, Todd Beamer soccer: Senior midfielder scored two goals in the last five minutes of Friday’s game to lead the Titans past Kent-Meridian, 2-1.

Jaime Haase, Tumwater softball: In double header against Shelton, freshman catcher went 6-for-6 with four RBI, a home run, a triple, a double and three singles.

Chloe Ream, Puyallup softball: In games against Sumner and Olympia, freshman catcher and leadoff hitter went 5-for-7 with two home runs, a double, two singles and six RBI.

Joy Wilde, Lincoln softball: Freshman shortstop and pitcher hit .584 in two-game span. At the plate, tossed five innings, giving up one hit, one walk, no runs and nine strikeouts.
