Winners of The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week (Oct. 17 to Oct. 22)

Voting is now closed The News Tribune’s high school Athletes of the Week in football and other fall sports (Oct. 17 to Oct. 22). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winners are:

Elijah Stafford-McNutt, Auburn Mountainview football and Makena Getts, Peninsula soccer.

Stafford-McNutt collected 253 all-purpose yards, including rushing for 153 yards and one touchdown on 27 carries, and another score on an 86-yard interception return, and added a team-high nine tackles, including three for losses, in a 20-14 win over Auburn Riverside. Getts scored a goal in a 2-0 win over River Ridge on Tuesday and scored a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Timberline on Friday.

FOOTBALL

Jah-Jah Abdullah, Mount Tahoma, jr. — Collected 119 all-purpose yards, including a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown, and added six tackles and a fumble recovery in a 49-7 win over Silas.

Xavier Ahrens, Curtis, soph. — Hauled in two catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-6 win over South Kitsap.

Jaycion Cain, Steilacoom, jr. — Rushed for 191 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries and added three tackles in a 35-28 loss to Washington.

Payton Faker, Kennedy Catholic, sr. — Completed 8-of-9 passes for 178 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-7 win over Tahoma.

Breydan Fisher, Washington, sr. — Hauled in seven catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-28 win over Steilacoom.

Darrell Gipson, Timberline, jr. — Had 11 tackles, including three for losses, two pass breakups and a 29-yard touchdown catch in 24-8 win over Capital.

Amari Goodfellow, Auburn, sr. — Completed 14-of-18 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns, and added 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 52-8 win over Todd Beamer.

Drake Granberry, Lincoln, sr. — Collected 227 all-purpose yards, including three catches for 107 yards and a touchdown and 120 yards and an 88-yard touchdown on kickoff returns, and added an interception in a 42-28 win over Lakes.

Jaydus Green, Steilacoom, jr. — Hauled in six catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns, and added an interception in a 35-28 loss to Washington.

Kai Kai Hale, Washington, soph. — Rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in a 35-28 win over Steilacoom.

Gabarri Johnson, Lincoln, sr. — Completed 9-of-9 passes for 221 yards and one touchdown, and added 18 carries for 87 yards and two scores in a 42-28 win over Lakes.

Rocco Koch, Curtis, jr. — Completed 5-of-6 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns, and added six carries for 96 yards and one touchdown in a 48-6 win over South Kitsap.

Will Landram, Gig Harbor, sr. — Completed 19-of-25 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns, and added nine carries for 76 yards and a score in a 42-0 win over South Kitsap.

Parker Mady, Curtis, soph. — Had an 83-yard punt return touchdown, two catches for 75 yards and one touchdown, a 1-yard rushing touchdown, and added nine tackles and a forced fumble in a 48-6 win over South Kitsap.

Derrik McKinney, Mount Tahoma, sr. — Completed 8-of-10 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown, and added 11 carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and added four tackles and a pass defended in a 49-7 win over Silas.

Isaiah Patterson, Yelm, jr. — Collected a team-high 13 tackles, including four sacks, in a 58-14 win over Peninsula.

Kyler Ronquillo, Yelm, sr. — Finished with 262 all-purpose yards, including 135 rushing yards and one touchdown on eight carries, two catches for 21 yards and a score and a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and added three tackles and a pair of two-point conversions in a 58-14 win over Peninsula.

Cade Sando, Cascade Christian, sr. — Completed 15-of-19 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns in a 71-0 win over Vashon Island.

Treyvon Silva, Franklin Pierce, sr. — Rushed for 128 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries in a 34-7 win over White River.

Chhan Jr Sim, Franklin Pierce, sr. — Rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries in a 34-7 win over White River.

Caden Smith, Graham-Kapowsin, sr. — Hauled in a key interception in 35-25 upset win over No. 2 Emerald Ridge.

Dylan Spicer, Tenino, sr. — Rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in a 38-23 win over Montesano.

Elijah Stafford-McNutt, Auburn Mountainview, sr. — Collected 253 all-purpose yards, including rushing for 153 yards and one touchdown on 27 carries, and another score on an 86-yard interception return, and added a team-high nine tackles, including three for losses, in a 20-14 win over Auburn Riverside.

Jed Walling, Cascade Christian, sr. — Hauled in three catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns, added 94 yards on two interceptions, including one returned for a score, and had nine tackles, a sack and caused a fumble in a 71-0 win over Vashon Island.

Maclane Watkins, Kennedy Catholic, sr. — Hauled in five catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 50-7 win over Tahoma.

David Wells, Lakes, sr. — Hauled in four catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-28 loss to Lincoln.

OTHER FALL SPORTS

McCoy Brooks, Enumclaw cross country, jr. — Took first place in the 2A SPSL championship race at Fort Steilacoom on Saturday, clocking in at 16 minutes, 6.4 seconds.

Ivy Brown, Silas volleyball, jr. — Had 27 kills, two aces and nine digs in 3-1 win over Lakes.

Cruize Corvin, Lakes cross country, sr. — Took first in the 3A PCL boys championship race on Saturday with a time of 15 minutes, 29.9 seconds.

Khylene Franco, Lakes volleyball, jr. — Had one kill, four aces, 11 digs and 25 assists in 3-1 loss to Silas.

Katelyn Galloway, Stadium cross country, soph. — Defended her 3A PCL title on Saturday with a time of 18 minutes, 4.9 seconds at Fort Steilacoom, leading Stadium to its seventh straight league title.

Makena Getts, Peninsula soccer, jr. — Plays both defense and at forward for the Seahawks and scored a goal in a 2-0 win over River Ridge on Tuesday and scored a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Timberline on Friday.

Elektra Higgins, Peninsula cross country, soph. — Took first in the 3A SSC championship race at Fort Steilacoom on Saturday, clocking in at 18 minutes, 19.1 seconds.

Elise Miller, Gig Harbor soccer, soph. — Tides’ forward scored a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Union and another goal in the 3-0 win over Capital.

Katie Mingus, Foss cross country, soph. — Took first place in the 2A SPSL championship race at Fort Steilacoom on Saturday with a time of 19 minutes, 39.7 seconds.

Zachary Walsh, Yelm cross country — Took first in the 3A SSC championship race at Fort Steilacoom on Saturday, clocking in at 15 minutes, 51.5 seconds.
