How the South Sound’s top high school football recruits performed in Week 1

The high school football season is underway across Washington, and several of the South Sound’s top recruits posted impressive numbers in Week 1.

Here is a look at how the area’s top 10 recruits, per 247Sports ratings — including six seniors considered among the state’s top 20 recruits in the 2024 class and four juniors considered in the top five in 2025 — performed in last week’s season-opening games.

All the recruits listed hold at least one Power Five offer, and five have already announced college commitments.

RB/LB, 6-2, 240, sr.

Committed to: Oregon

The state’s top recruit in the senior class, who committed to Oregon on Monday, rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown on six carries playing limited snaps, and rushed for the game-winning two-point conversion in Yelm’s 8-7 win over Camas. Also added seven tackles and two tackles for loss.

Marquise Thorpe-Taylor

Mount Tahoma

OL/DL, 6-5, 315, sr.

Committed to: UCLA

Left tackle blocked for a T-Birds offense that recorded 244 total yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns in a 24-21 loss to North Kitsap. Added seven tackles, four tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry and one pass defended against last year’s 2A state runner-up.

Malachi Durant

Graham-Kapowsin

WR/DB, 6-2, 160, sr.

Committed to: Oregon State

Returned the game’s opening kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown in a 49-10 win over Rogers. Also caught three passes for a team-leading 92 yards and two touchdowns and tallied 212 all-purpose yards in his Graham-Kapowsin debut.

Isaiah Patterson

Yelm

RB/LB, 6-3, 235, sr.

Committed to: UCLA

Recorded a team-leading 13 tackles in the Tornados’ 8-7 win over Camas. Also rushed for 39 yards on seven carries, and added two catches for 27 yards.

Dylan Sikorski

Sumner

OL/DL, 6-5, 300, sr.

Committed to: Oregon State

Spartans starting left tackle blocked for an offense that piled up 403 total yards, four rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. Also started at defensive tackle for a Sumner defense that shut out Bellarmine Prep in a 40-0 win.

Luvens Valcin

Auburn

WR/DB, 6-3, 218, sr.

Offers: WSU, Utah State, Weber State

Rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown on five carries and hauled in five catches for 68 yards in a 14-12 win over Prairie. Added nine tackles and two sacks on defense.

Recorded 15 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in a 32-27 win over South Kitsap. Added two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown.

Jonathan Epperson

Auburn Riverside

RB/LB, 6-0, 195, jr.

Rushed for a game-high 101 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and added six tackles in a 14-6 loss to Lincoln.

D’Aryhian Clemons

Spanaway Lake

RB/DB, 6-0, 170, jr.

Rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and added two catches for 32 yards in a 26-21 win over Gig Harbor. Added a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown on defense.

Noah Flores

Graham-Kapowsin

TE/LB, 6-4, 230, jr.

Caught four passes for 41 yards in a 49-10 win over Rogers and helped block for an offense that totaled 385 yards and six touchdowns.
