Winners of The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week (Sept. 11 to 16)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week (Sept. 11 to 16). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winners are: Synjae Colston, Timberline football and Elizabeth Hayes, Gig Harbor soccer
Colston completed 11-of-15 passes for 232 yards and four TDs in a win over River Ridge.
Hayes totaled four goals and two assists on the week: one goal against Central Kitsap, two goals and two assists against Timberline and a goal against 4A Issaquah.

Damian Aalona, Yelm — Completed 23-of-27 passes for 383 yards and five TDs in a win over Central Kitsap.
Marius Aalona, Yelm — Hauled in nine catches for 220 yards and three TDs in a win over Central Kitsap.
Xavier Ahrens, Curtis — Caught six passes for 73 yards and two TDs in a win over Bethel.
Brison Bailey, Mount Tahoma — Rushed for 177 yards and two TDs on 27 carries in a win over Spanaway Lake.
Elijah Baird, Auburn Mountainview — Completed 17-of-32 passes for 206 yards and three TDs, and added 35 rushing yards and another TD on 14 carries in a loss to Auburn.
Jaxsen Beck, Black Hills — Completed 20-of-32 passes for 254 yards and two TDs in an overtime loss to Rochester.
Louis Chevalier, Enumclaw — Rushed for 85 yards and one TD on seven carries, and added a 39-yard interception return TD in a shutout win over Steilacoom.
Kooper Clark, Tumwater — Rushed for 116 yards and three TDs on nine carries in a win over Kelso.
D’aryhian Clemons, Spanaway Lake — Rushed for 86 yards and one TD on eight carries in a loss to Mount Tahoma.
Tayven Collins, Puyallup — Recorded a team-leading 11 tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks in a shutout win over South Kitsap.
Synjae Colston, Timberline — Completed 11-of-15 passes for 232 yards and four TDs in a win over River Ridge.
Navarre Dixon, Emerald Ridge — Rushed for 123 yards and two TDs on 20 carries in a win over Sumner.
Malachi Durant, Graham-Kapowsin — Hauled in seven catches for 126 yards and three TDs in a win over Olympia.
Devon Forehand, Kennedy Catholic — Completed 17-of-24 passes for 189 yards and three TDs in a win over Kentwood.
Ryland Geldermann, Gig Harbor — Hauled in a 65-yard TD catch and added eight tackles and two tackles for loss in a rivalry win over Peninsula.
Christian Goode, Franklin Pierce — Rushed for 113 yards and three TDs on 12 carries in a win over Foster.
Gio Kafentzis, Emerald Ridge — Hauled in nine catches for 167 yards and three TDs in a win over Sumner.
Ethan Kastner, Tumwater — Completed 5-of-11 passes for 130 yards and two TDs in a win over Kelso.
Rocco Koch, Curtis — Completed 10-of-14 passes for 198 yards and four TDs, and added 22 carries for 157 yards and another TD in a win over Bethel.
Marcus Lloyd, Bonney Lake — Rushed for 107 yards and two TDs on 13 carries a win over Lakes.
Roy Lockley III, Bethel — Rushed for 134 yards and two TDs on 25 carries in a loss to Curtis.
Elijiah McChristian, Lakes — Caught eight passes for 156 yards and two TDs in a loss to Bonney Lake.
Jeremiah Olione, Franklin Pierce — Rushed for 42 yards and one TD on three carries and caught a 30-yard TD pass in a win over Foster.
Brayden Palmer, Bonney Lake — Completed 10-of-18 passes for 70 yards and rushed for 109 yards and two TDs on 20 carries in a win over Lakes.
Benji Park, Gig Harbor — Tides backup QB completed 8-of-10 passes for 208 yards and two TDs, and rushed for another to lead Gig Harbor to a rivalry win over Peninsula.
Tate Quarnstrom, Rochester — Rushed for 197 yards and one TD on 27 carries, and added an interception on defense in an overtime win over Black Hills.
Cedric Ragland Jr., Timberline — Hauled in six catches for 160 yards and three TDs in a win over River Ridge.
Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, Bethel — Hauled in two catches for 41 yards and a TD, and caused a fumble on defense in a loss to Curtis.
Tristen Rebar, Sumner — Completed 11-of-22 passes for 149 yards and two TDs, and added seven carries for 41 yards and another TD in a loss to Emerald Ridge.
Dante Saladino, Kennedy Catholic — Caught eight passes for 91 yards and two TDs in a win over Kentwood.
Jake Schakel, Emerald Ridge — Completed 22-of-32 passes for 396 yards and four TDs in a win over Sumner.
Shiron Seniours, Orting — Rushed for 133 yards and two TDs on five carries in a win over White River.
Matthew Spurbeck, Sumner — Rushed for 142 yards and one TD on 14 carries in a loss to Emerald Ridge.
Darius Sum, Stadium — Rushed for 60 yards on five carries, added a 33-yard TD catch and an 88-yard kickoff return TD in a win over Silas.
Daveon Superales, Graham-Kapowsin — Completed 30-of-44 passes for 313 yards and three TDs in a win over Olympia.
Jack Tangen, Cascade Christian — Rushed for 105 yards and two TDs on 14 carries and added six tackles in a win over Eatonville.
Gunnar Trachte, Enumclaw — Completed 12-of-14 passes for 136 yards and three TDs in a win over Steilacoom.
Thyrou Umi-Tuato’o, Auburn Riverside — Rushed for 40 yards and one TD on three carries, and added nine tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and caused a fumble in a win over Thomas Jefferson.
Luvens Valcin, Auburn — Caught five passes for 81 yards and two TDs, and added six carries for 50 yards and 10 tackles, three tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on defense in a win over Auburn Mountainview.
Byson Vasquez, Cascade Christian — Rushed for 46 yards and one TD on five carries, and added 16 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks and caused a fumbled in a shutout win over Eatonville.
Palmer Watt, Rochester — Rushed for 67 yards and the game-winning TD on 13 carries, and added nine tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks on defense in an overtime win over Black Hills.
Kaiden Whitaker, Orting — Rushed for 138 yards and two TDs on nine carries, and added eight tackles in a win over White River.
Andrew Wold, Auburn Riverside — Completed 8-of-13 passes for 108 yards and three TDs in a win over Thomas Jefferson.
FALL SPORTS
Bella Baird, Enumclaw soccer — Scored two goals in win over Steilacoom on Thursday.
Cooper Boyle, Tahoma cross country — Placed second in the Boys Gold Varsity division at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational with a time of 15:43.5.
Ivy Brown, Silas volleyball — Had 13 kills in win over Stadium and 24 kills in win over Bellarmine Prep.
Harper Curnett, Auburn Riverside soccer — Scored two goals and had two assists in win over Decatur and scored three goals in win over Federal Way.
Sophie Danielson, Auburn Riverside volleyball — Had 21 kills in loss to Kentwood and 12 kills (4/set) in win over Auburn Mountainview.
Katelyn Galloway, Stadium cross country — Won the girls varsity division at the PLU Invitational with a time of 18:26.7.
Elizabeth Hayes, Gig Harbor soccer — Totaled four goals and two assists on the week: one goal against Central Kitsap, two goals and two assists against Timberline and a goal against 4A Issaquah.
Elektra Higgins, Peninsula cross country — Placed second in the Girls Gold Varsity division at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational with a time of 17:42.5.
Ari Hill, Sumner soccer — Scored a hat trick in the first 18 minutes of the game and had two assists in 7-0 win over Bethel and had a goal and assist in 2-1 win over Tahoma.
Jonathan Miles, Gig Harbor cross country — Won the boys varsity division at the PLU Invitational with a state-leading time of 15:15.6.
Jaylee Reynolds, Bonney Lake soccer — Scored two goals and had an assist in win over Spanaway Lake and scored five goals in win over Lincoln.
Emalyn Shaffer, Tumwater soccer — Scored four goals and had three assists in win over Black Hills and added an assist in 1-0 win over Ridgefield.
Kinley Smith, Timberline volleyball — Outside hitter had 15 kills in loss to Tumwater and 19 kills (4.8/set) in win over River Ridge.
