Winners of The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week (Sept. 25 to 30)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Athletes of the Week for fall high school sports contests played Sept. 25-30. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winners are:
Kooper Clark, Tumwater football and Marley Alefaio, Lakes volleyball
Clark rushed for 162 yards and three TDs on 19 carries in a win over W.F. West. Alefaio had 21 kills, served 18-of-18 with one ace and had three blocks in win over Spanaway Lake. In a win over Lincoln, had an ace, three blocks, six digs and 17 kills.

FOOTBALL
Damian Aalona, Yelm — Completed 7-of-10 passes for 151 yards and four TDs in a win over North Thurston.
Xavier Ahrens, Curtis — Hauled in 11 catches for 162 yards and one TD, added an interception on defense and collected nearly 300 all-purpose yards in a win over Bellarmine Prep.
Cale Allen, Olympia — Completed 12-of-21 passes for 155 yards and one TD, rushed for 64 yards and two TDs on 20 carries, and added a fumble recovery TD and six tackles on defense in a loss to Bethel.
Jackson Almond, Cascade Chrisitan — Hauled in 11 catches for 145 yards and one TD, and added 10 tackles and two interceptions on defense in a loss to King’s.
Joey Bambrick, Bellarmine Prep — Rushed for 49 yards on 13 carries and hauled in three catches for 73 yards and one TD in a loss to Curtis.
Jabez Boyd, Life Christian — Completed 10-of-16 passes for 141 yards and one TD, and rushed for 107 yards and two TDs on six carries in a win over East Jefferson.
Jaycion Cain, Steilacoom — Collected 332 all-purpose yards, including rushing for 222 yards and one TD on 20 carries and catching a 68-yard TD pass in a win over Meadowdale.
Kooper Clark, Tumwater — Rushed for 162 yards and three TDs on 19 carries in a win over W.F. West.
Carter Cocke, Sumner — Hauled in five catches for 88 yards and one TD in an overtime loss to Graham-Kapowsin.
Kyson Douglas, Puyallup — Rushed for 175 yards and four TDs on nine carries, and added two catches for 51 yards in a win over Rogers.
Joseph Earl, Chief Leschi — Completed 8-of-9 passes for 323 yards and seven TDs, and added three carries for 42 yards, an interception return TD on defense and three two-point conversions in a win over Muckleshoot Tribal.
Alele Fa’apito, Graham-Kapowsin — Rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in win over Sumner.
Jacob Ford, Yelm — Had two catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns and rushed two times for 58 yards and another touchdown in win over River Ridge.
Tony Harste, Emerald Ridge — Hauled in five catches for 135 yards and three TDs in a win over South Kitsap.
Spencer Holloway, Decatur — Completed 6-of-11 passes for 94 yards and added 89 yards and one TD on nine carries in a win over Tahoma.
Steele Isaacs, Sumner — Rushed for 159 yards and two TDs on 28 carries in an overtime loss to Graham-Kapowsin.
Sione Kaho, Lincoln — Completed 18-of-22 passes for 269 yards and three TDs in a win over Bonney Lake.
Rocco Koch, Curtis — Completed 22-of-26 passes for 352 yards and four TDs, and added two rushing TDs in a win over Bellarmine Prep.
Nolan Lahn, Capital — Completed 16-of-28 passes for 144 yards and one TD, and rushed for 47 yards and two TDs on 13 carries in a win over Central Kitsap.
Unterrio Latin-Henley, Washington — Rushed for 77 yards and one TD on four carries, and added an 86-yard interception return TD on defense in a win over Fife.
Antoine Lee, Kentwood — Rushed for 241 yards and two TDs on 20 carries in a win over Mount Rainier.
Alex Lindgren, Stadium — Rushed for 122 yards and one TD on 25 carries in a win over Spanaway Lake.
Marcus Lloyd, Bonney Lake — Rushed for two TDs and caught nine passes for 129 yards in a loss to Lincoln.
Roy Lockley III, Bethel — Rushed for 188 yards and one TD on 24 carries in a win over Olympia.
Parker Mady, Curtis — Hauled in five catches for 149 yards and two TDs in a win over Bellarmine Prep.
David Malroy, Tumwater — Hauled in five catches for 111 yards and one TD in a win over W.F. West.
Drake Matthies, Gig Harbor — Caught six passes for 58 yards and a TD in win over Timberline.
Elijiah Mcchristian, Lakes — Hauled in five catches for 145 yards and one TD, and collected 195 all-purpose yards in a win over Silas.
Exavier Mcchristian, Lakes — Completed 10-of-22 passes for 232 yards and three TDs in a win over Silas.
Zach Mcknight, Life Christian — Rushed for 66 yards and four TDs on 10 carries, and added five tackles and a tackle for loss on defense in a win over East Jefferson.
Aiden Mendenhall, Orting — Recorded a receiving TD and fumble recovery TD in a win over Franklin Pierce.
Angel Oyos, Chief Leschi — Rushed for 171 yards and three TDs on five carries, and hauled in four catches for 173 yards and four TDs in a win over Muckleshoot Tribal.
Brayden Palmer, Bonney Lake — Completed 15-of-21 passes for 208 yards and one TD, and added 13 carries for 83 yards in a loss to Lincoln.
Benji Park, Gig Harbor — Completed 18-of-35 passes for 191 yards and two TDs in a win over Timberline.
Brayden Platt, Yelm — Rushed for 81 yards and two TDs on four carries, and added eight tackles and two tackles for loss on defense in a win over North Thurston.
Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, Bethel — Collected 15 tackles, one sack and a 78-yard fumble recovery TD in a win over Olympia.
Kage Repenn, Tahoma — Hauled in 14 catches for 117 yards and two TDs in a loss to Decatur.
Ethan Rodriguez, Rochester — Rushed for 189 yards and three TDs on 15 carries in a win over Centralia.
Roman Rough, Tahoma — Completed 25-of-35 passes for 203 yards and three TDs, and added 12 carries for 58 yards in a loss to Decatur.
Jake Schakel, Emerald Ridge — Completed 8-of-10 passes for 219 yards and six TDs in a win over South Kitsap.
Andrew Shrader, Auburn Riverside — Hauled in five catches for 105 yards and three TDs in a win over Kentlake.
Daveon Superales, Graham-Kapowsin — Completed 17-of-26 passes for 199 yards and one TD and rushed 19 times for 140 yards and two TDs in win over Sumner.
Jemani Teplasy, Lincoln — Hauled in six catches for 121 yards and two TDs in a win over Bonney Lake
Nehemiah Washington, Decatur — Rushed for 152 yards and three TDs on 25 carries, and added three two-point conversion runs in a win over Tahoma.
Andrew Wold, Auburn Riverside — Completed 10-of-17 passes for 162 yards and four TDs, and added a rushing TD in a win over Kentlake.
FALL SPORTS
Marley Alefaio, Lakes volleyball — Lakes middle had 21 kills, served 18-of-18 with one ace and had three blocks in win over Spanaway Lake. In win over Lincoln, had an ace, three blocks, six digs and 17 kills.
Cooper Boyle, Tahoma cross country — Placed second in the 5,000 Meters Division I Varsity race at the 27th John Payne XC Invitational with a time of 15:33.2, which currently ranks 20th in the state.
Braelyn Carey, Lakes soccer — Scored two goals in win over Lincoln, four goals in win over Mount Tahoma and two goals in win over North Thurston.
Clare Herring, Central Kitsap cross country — Placed third in the 5,000 Meters Danner Championships race at the Nike Portland XC Invite with a time of 18:11.5, which currently ranks 15th in the state.
Madi Jarzynka, Stadium soccer — Scored two goals in a tie with Bonney Lake on Tuesday to keep the Tigers undefeated in 3A PCL play.
Kennedy Marler, Gig Harbor soccer — Had all three assists in Gig Harbor’s 3-0 win over crosstown rival Peninsula.
Latham West, Bonney Lake cross country — Won the 5,000 Meters Division I Varsity race at the 27th John Payne XC Invitational with a time of 17:45.9, which currently ranks seventh in the state.
