Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (Jan. 29 to Feb. 3)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played Jan. 29 to Feb. 3. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Jalen Hyppa, Sumner

He scored a game-high 17 points in a win over Puyallup in the 4A SPSL tournament championship game on Saturday.

Ray Adams, North Thurston — Scored 21 points and had 12 rebounds in win over Gig Harbor on Tuesday.

Omarion Boston, Lincoln — Scored a game-high 18 points in win over Lakes on Wednesday.

Dalton Brown, Tahoma — Scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds in win over Mount Rainier on Friday, securing Tahoma’s first league title since 2013.

Carter Hansen, Auburn — Scored 17 points in win over Auburn Mountainview on Friday.

Jalen Hyppa, Sumner — Scored a game-high 17 points in win over Puyallup in 4A SPSL tournament championship game on Saturday.

Martin Kaupanger, Annie Wright — Scored 23 points in win over Life Christian on Tuesday.

Reggie Lester, Annie Wright — Scored 21 points in win over Life Christian on Tuesday.

Zach Luz, Mount Rainier — Scored a team-high 24 points in loss to Tahoma on Friday.

Jaylen Petty, Auburn — Scored a game-high 20 points in win over Auburn Mountainview on Friday.

LaVhanta Sandling-Green, Lincoln — Scored 15 points in win over Lakes on Wednesday.

Isaiah Sonntag, Puyallup — Scored 15 points in loss to Sumner in 4A SPSL tournament championship game on Saturday.

Brandon Tagle, Kentwood — Scored a game-high 19 points in Friday’s win over Kentridge.

Ethan Thomas, River Ridge — Scored 18 points, had three rebounds, three assists and three steals in win over Capital on Tuesday and had 2 points, four rebounds and two assists in loss to Yelm on Thursday.

Kadyn Ward, Timberline — Scored 17 points and tallied seven assists in one-point win over North Thurston on Thursday.

Treyshawn Weatherspoon, Rogers — Scored a game-high 18 points and sunk 5-of-5 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter of Rogers’ win over Bellarmine on Thursday.

Dylan Wiggins, Bellarmine — Scored a team-high 17 points in loss to Rogers on Thursday.
