Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (March 11 to 16)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played March 11 to 16. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Carson Hughes, Bonney Lake baseball

In three games, the junior shortstop went 5-for-10 with three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Also stole three bases and pitched three innings.

Micah Bujacich, Steilacoom baseball — Went 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot in Steilacoom’s 6-0 win over Bethel on Wednesday and on Friday, earned the win on the mound in 6-4 win over Yelm, allowing no hits and no runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI.

Landon Breidenbach, Enumclaw boys soccer — Scored a three-goal hat trick and had an assist in 9-0 win over Foss on Friday.

Garrett Chavis, Enumclaw baseball — Hornets’ lefty starting pitcher struck out four and gave up just one hit across four shutout innings in 7-0 win over Silas on Friday.

Karson Holt, Enumclaw baseball — Went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in 7-0 win over Silas on Friday.

Carson Hughes, Bonney Lake baseball — In three games, junior shortstop went 5-for-10 with three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Also stole three bases and pitched three innings.

Parker Mady, Curtis baseball — Capped a six-run third inning in win over Gig Harbor on Wednesday with a two-run single to left field.

Mason Pike, Puyallup baseball — Junior pitcher threw a one-hit complete game in 5-0 win over Graham-Kapowsin on Thursday, striking out 11 batters in the win.

Sean Tutty, Emerald Ridge baseball — Hit the go-ahead RBI double in the third inning of Emerald Ridge’s 8-2 win over Bellarmine Prep on Thursday.

Wyatt Vincent, Bonney Lake baseball — Threw a shutout inning and earned the save in a win over Lakes and earned his second win of the season in four innings of work against Southridge, allowing one hit, no runs, two walks and striking out five.

Orlando Young, Federal Way baseball — Struck out 13 batters across six innings in 6-1 win over Auburn on Friday. Also went 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBI and a walk.
