Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (March 11 to 16)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played March 11 to 16. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Miken Jacobsen, Orting softball
In two games, the senior catcher went 5-for-6 at the plate with three doubles, a three-run home run and a grand slam, totaling eight RBI. Also had two tag outs at home plate.

Laina Baker, Bonney Lake softball — Went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple in the first inning of Bonney Lake’s win over Cascade Christian on Thursday.
Grace Field, Eatonville softball — Went 4-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI in Eatonville’s win over Foster. Went 8-for-15 with 11 RBI on the week.
Shay Hermansen, Bonney Lake softball — Tossed a complete-game one-hitter in win over Cascade Christian, retiring the game’s final seven batters. Had three strikeouts, three walks and 40 strikes on 72 pitches.
Allison Howes, Stadium softball — Went 2-for-4 with four RBI, highlighted by a two-out grand slam over the left field wall in the second inning in nonleague win over Bellevue.

Sami Potvin, Olympia softball — Went 3-for-4 with three RBI and pitched scoreless sixth and seventh innings in 13-4 nonleague win over Peninsula on Thursday.
