TAHOMA 6, AUBURN 2
Neal Burtis fanned eight across five solid innings, and Tahoma plated all six runs in the second inning of Friday’s win.
Burtis surrendered two hits, one walk, and one earned run. He attacked hitters early, throwing 49 of 61 pitches (80 percent) for strikes.
In the home second, Sean Evans singled to left field and Brant Korpi raced home on a fielding error, the game’s first run. Kobe Frazier plated another run on an RBI single to left, Beckett Turnbow’s ensuing bases-loaded walk scored a third, and Adam Jay lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that gave Tahoma a four-run lead.
Jacob Nold later scored on a throwing error, and Jackson Walker’s RBI groundout scored Tahoma’s sixth run of the second inning.
Tahoma (5-2) has won five of six games.
NON-LEAGUE
LAKE WASHINGTON 4, STADIUM 2
Aidan Mehlberg’s pair of clutch, late RBI singles completed Lake Washington’s comeback win over Stadium.
The Kangs right fielder lined a game-tying RBI single to center field in the fifth inning, and an inning later, Lake Washington took the lead on Will Cooley’s RBI grounder that was mishandled at shortstop before Mehlberg drove another RBI single to left.
Lake Washington’s Marcello Giusti navigated four shutout relief innings to seal Friday’s win. He struck out eight and walked three.
Stadium out-hit Lake Washington, 7-6, but stranded eight runners aboard in the first four innings. Tigers shortstop and leadoff hitter Jesse Winkler went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
AUBURN RIVERSIDE 8, FIFE 1
Thaddeus Dela Cruz crushed a second-inning solo homer to left, and Auburn Riverside handled the Trojans, 8-1, in Friday’s non-league affair at Fife High School.
Auburn Riverside’s cleanup hitter hammered a 2-0 breaking ball offered middle-middle, a no-doubt home run that led off the top of the second inning.
The Ravens plated two more runs in the frame via balk and error, and Auburn Riverside starter Kaeden Morgan tossed 5 shutout innings that prevented a Fife rally.
Ravens right fielder Ethan Melius finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, including a run-scoring fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and an RBI infield single in the sixth.
Morgan struck out six and walked four, allowing two hits and no runs.

PUYALLUP 8, OLYMPIA 0
Mason Pike impressed again across 6 ⅔ shutout innings, and Puyallup blanked rival-Olympia on the road Thursday afternoon.
Pike fanned a dozen hitters and walked four, allowing one hit across 6 ⅔ frames before reaching his 95-pitch maximum; Puyallup reliever Cyrus Cline induced the game-ending groundout in the seventh.
Through two starts and 13 ⅔ combined innings, Pike is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, two hits, five walks, and 23 strikeouts. He silenced Graham-Kapowsin hitters in a complete-game one-hitter on March 14, his season-debut.
“I don’t think (Mason) had his greatest stuff, but it was really good,” Puyallup coach Marc Weise said of Thursday’s start. “Topped out at 94 (mph), sat 91 to 94 early. Started landing the slider later in the game and really settled in.”
If these performances aren’t Pike’s best stuff, what is?
“I’m looking forward to it,” Wiese said, “once the weather warms up a little bit.”
Olympia starter Trace Pruitt, a University of Washington commit, silenced Puyallup’s order the first go-around, but the Vikings plated four runs in the fourth inning and cruised behind Pike’s dominance on the mound.
Fourth-inning leadoff hitter Jackson Copeland walked, stole second, and scored Puyallup’s first run on Kai Halstead’s ensuing RBI single.
Max Hemenway ripped a two-run double to right field, Gage Thompson lined an RBI single to left field, and Puyallup extended the lead to four.
And Pike finished 2-for-3 at the plate, adding an RBI single in the seventh.
“We faced one of the top arms in the state,” Wiese said of the opposing Pruitt. “We were able to, in the first few innings, get his pitch count up and grind out some at-bats. … Got a few hits, made some things happen. It was good to see.”
TAHOMA 6, AUBURN MOUNTAINVIEW 1
Adam Jay took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and Tahoma cruised behind a stellar outing by its lefty starter.
Jay fanned seven and walked none, allowing two hits and one run across 5 ⅔ innings. He threw 52 of 74 pitches for strikes.
Auburn Mountainview’s Jay Swanson ended Jay’s no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the sixth inning.
Kobe Frazier grounded a pinch-hit, two-run single to left in the sixth inning, pushing Tahoma’s lead to five. Jay went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the sixth.
CURTIS 6, SOUTH KITSAP 3
Curtis starter Josh Moore tossed a seven-inning complete game, and the Vikings plated five runs in the early innings to beat South Kitsap on Thursday.
Moore walked two, whiffed five, and surrendered three runs, all unearned.
Vikings shortstop Parker Mady went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Puyallup’s leadoff hitter poked an RBI single to left field in the second inning, pushing Curtis’ lead to three.

BONNEY LAKE 23, SPANAWAY LAKE 0
Bonney Lake’s bats remain ablaze -- 23 runs in the contest’s first three innings pushed the Panthers to another rout.
Aspyn Evanson twirled a complete-game one-hitter, and Bonney Lake piled 11 runs in the first inning for instant momentum in Thursday’s league rivalry.
Evanson struck out seven and walked two, surrendering a lone single in the second inning.
Jess Eaton’s two-run homer in the third inning extended Bonney Lake’s lead to 23; the shortstop went 3-for-4 with four runs, seven RBI, and was a single shy of a cycle.

PUYALLUP 6, ROGERS 0
Vikings forwards Zack Robertson (junior) and Liam Stoner (senior) netted two goals apiece, and Puyallup silenced its crosstown rival in Thursday night’s league-opener.
Puyallup’s high-tempo offense generated quality looks inside. Stoner initiated scoring in the eighth minute and Robertson, a returning SPSL first-teamer and captain, converted a 33rd-minute header that doubled the lead.
“We had 16 shots for six goals, so that’s a really high percentage,” Puyallup coach Matt White said. “If we were going to use the analogy of darts, we didn’t have to throw as many darts... we got more bullseyes.”
The prettiest goal of the night, per White? Coleman Farmer, 58th minute.
“Corner of the 18, rips it far-post, off the post and the crossbar, to go in,” White said. “There are lots of kids who are stepping up and trying to be a part, so that’s pretty fun.”
Stoner’s second score beat the keeper to the back post in the 58th minute, Robertson added his second in the 63rd, and Tyler Buckler added insurance in the 78th.
Puyallup’s defense posted its first shutout of the season, led by junior keeper Alexis Cruz-Hernandez.
3A PCL
BONNEY LAKE 2, LINCOLN 1
Diego Barton (41st minute) and Gavin Murphy (65th) scored to lift Bonney Lake over PCL-rival Lincoln on Thursday night.
The Panthers (2-1, 2-2-1) ascend into sole third place in the league standings; Spanaway Lake and Silas both remain unbeaten.

WEDNESDAY’S RESULTS (MARCH 20)
BASEBALL

ENUMCLAW 16, CLOVER PARK 0 (5)
Another day, another no-hitter for the Hornets.
Right-hander Cooper Markham twirled a five-inning no-no Tuesday, and southpaw Garrett Chavis tossed another – both against SPSL-foe Clover Park – in Enumclaw’s 16-0 win at Clover Park High School in Lakewood.
Chavis fanned 12 and walked two batters, throwing 40 of 71 pitches for strikes in Wednesday’s game.
“They’re pretty experienced pitchers,” Enumclaw head coach Eric Fiedler said. “They did a really good job the last two days.
“Cooper, against Tumwater (in his first start March 13), he didn’t have really good command of his fastball. … What I saw (Tuesday) was just an increase in velocity and much better command. My pitching coach, Danny Graham, made a little adjustment on his curveball to get a good snap on it. He was a bit overpowering. And Garrett today … he’s had two really good starts.”
Chavis aided his own cause Wednesday, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the third inning. He’s a speedy dual-threat slashing .571/.667/1.381 with two doubles and three RBI in five games.
“And he plays great defense at first base when he’s there,” Fiedler said. “He’s our three-hitter, and he’s a competitor.”

CAPITAL 10, NORTH THURSTON 3
Capital exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning to surge past North Thurston in Wednesday’s SSC clash.
Jacob Muench plated the game-tying run on a fifth-inning double to left field, and the floodgates soon opened via four consecutive Capital singles with the bases loaded.
Capital starter Karsten Hansen struck out six, walked one, and surrendered two runs (five hits) across four innings.
Cougars shortstop Lucas Redman went 3-for-3 with a double, walk and run scored.
STADIUM 11, LAKES 1 (6)
Logan Judish plated the go-ahead runs on a third-inning single, and Stadium surged in the later innings for a 10-run win (six innings) over PCL-rival Lakes.
Judish took the mound in the sixth and struck out the side, combining with Stadium starter Jesse Winkler and reliever Jackson Noonan for a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts and zero earned runs in six innings.
Stadium pounced for five runs in the fourth inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, Kellen Colglazier lifted a fly ball to left field — misplayed by Lakes on a fielding error. Colglazier was thrown out at second base, but not before all three Tigers raced around to score.
SOFTBALL

PUYALLUP 19, CURTIS 5 (5)
Kyra Smith launched two homers, and Puyallup routed Curtis behind the star third baseman’s monster day.
Smith went 3-for-3 with home runs in the first and second innings, adding three runs and three RBI. Puyallup exploded for 10 runs in the opening frame and tallied 18 total hits.
In the first inning alone, Puyallup 2B Kayla Ringenbach doubled and scorched a three-run homer to left field, finishing 3-for-4 with a game-high five RBI.
Vikings starter Kiera Thomas struck out five, walked four, and surrendered four runs (three earned) in three innings.
EMERALD RIDGE 5, ROGERS 3
Lillian Stariha’s two-run single in the second inning lifted Emerald Ridge to victory in Wednesday’s rivalry bout between SPSL contenders.
With the bases loaded, two outs and the count full in a tie game, Stariha stung a line-drive single to center, providing Emerald Ridge a two-run lead, 3-1.
Sarah Hurley stole home later in the frame, and Emerald Ridge starter Alanna Wirtala twirled a three-run complete game (two earned) with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
Stariha went 3-for-3 with the go-ahead single, two doubles and a run scored.
Rams shortstop Raygun Klippert went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored all three Rogers runs.
OLYMPIA 4, GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN 2
Bears starter Ava Bautista struck out six across four innings (one run) and launched a fourth-inning homer in Olympia’s 4-2 win over Graham-Kapowsin.
Bautista’s solo shot broke a scoreless tie. Graham-Kapowsin’s Riley Nieblas tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the home fourth, but Olympia’s Avery Mauldin and Sami Potvin later added an RBI double and single, respectively, to grab a two-run lead in the fifth.
Potvin, Olympia’s ace pitcher, threw the final three innings and struck out eight (one run allowed).

YELM 10, PRAIRIE 6
Yelm stacked three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings for a comeback win over Prairie on Wednesday.
Tornados 3B Kamille Kautz went 3-for-4 with three RBI – all on a sixth-inning homer that pushed Yelm’s lead to four.
Layah Hicks lifted a go-ahead sacrifice fly to center in the fifth inning.
