Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (April 8 to 13)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played April 8 to 13. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Abby Atkins, White River softball

She went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI, finishing a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in a 10-5 win over Spanaway Lake on Friday.

Hazel Abbott, Timberline softball — Went 3-for-3 with five RBI in 17-0 win over Peninsula on Thursday.

Abby Akins, White River softball — Went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI, finishing a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in 10-5 win over Spanaway Lake on Friday.

Elisa Dewees, Yelm softball — Went 3-for-3 with two walks and two RBI, reaching base safely five times and scoring four runs in 14-4 win over Central Kitsap.

Kamdyn Haggerty, South Kitsap — Went 4-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in 7-5 win over Emerald ridge in eight innings. Also tossed a pair of shutout relief innings.

Amori Hargrove, Puyallup softball — Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and six RBI in 17-1 over Bethel on Wednesday.

Raygun Klippert, Rogers softball — Went 4-for-4 in 9-2 win over Graham-Kapowsin on Wednesday, pushing her season batting average to .676.

Natalie Medalia, Silas softball — At the plate, went 2-for-3 with a game-high seven RBI in 19-4 win over Bellarmine Prep in five innings, adding three runs scored and a walk. On the mound, tossed a five-inning complete game, giving up five hits and four runs (none earned) with five walks and seven strikeouts.

Keagan Norfleet, Rogers softball — Collected 10 strikeouts in 9-2 win over Graham-Kapowsin, throwing her fifth complete game in seven starts this season. Walked two and gave up six hits.

Jasmyn Polanco, Timberline softball — In five innings, gave up three hits, three walks and no runs in 17-0 win over Peninsula. Went 2-for-2 at the plate with two walks and five RBI, reaching base in all four plate appearances.

Sydney Potvin, Olympia softball — Went 2-for-2 with a run scored and four RBI in 15-1 win over Curtis on Thursday, including a three-run home run.
