Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (April 15 to 20)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played April 15 to 20. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Lily Hart, Stadium softball

She allowed one hit, struck out two in three innings of work in a 22-2 win over Spanaway Lake on Thursday and at the plate, went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBI.

Morgan Berg, Bonney Lake softball — Went 2-for-3 with three RBI in 14-0 win over Lincoln on Thursday.

Aspyn Evanson, Bonney Lake softball — Threw a five-inning one-hitter in 14-0 win over Lincoln on Thursday, striking out eight and walking one.

Lily Hart, Stadium softball — Allowed one hit, struck out two in three innings of work in 22-2 win over Spanaway Lake on Thursday and at the plate, went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBI.

Allison Howes, Stadium softball — Went 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles in 22-2 win over Spanaway Lake on Thursday.

Sami Potvin, Olympia softball — Threw a complete game in 3-2 win over Emerald Ridge on Friday, allowing one hit with 15 strikeouts. Hit the go-ahead two-run single in the third inning at the plate.

Brookelyn Read, Timberline softball — Freshman left fielder hit the go-ahead three-run home run in sixth inning of 3-1 win over River Ridge on Thursday.

Kiera Thomas, Puyallup softball — In win over Curtis and loss to Sumner, went 7-for-8 with four home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored.

Lexi Vircks, Auburn Riverside softball — Senior center fielder and pitcher went 4-for-4 with four doubles and five RBI agianst Thomas Jefferson and for the week, went 7-for-8 with six RBI, two stolen bases and a sacrifice bunt.

Alanna Wirtala, Emerald Ridge softball — Took a perfect game bid into the fourth inning, retiring the first nine batters in 14-4 win over Olympia on Thursday. Struck out six and walked none, surrendering four hits an four runs (two earned).
