Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (April 29 to May 4)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played March April 29 to May 4. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Chase Kreuger, Sumner baseball
He tossed five strong innings over Bethel on Tuesday (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) and went 2-for-3 with two RBI at the plate in Sumner’s 9-3 win.

Kort Baker, Thomas Jefferson baseball – Raiders 3B went 3-for-4 with a run, stolen base, and four RBI in Thursday’s 10-0 win over Todd Beamer.
Harlan Carrillo, Curtis baseball – Under the lights at Cheney Stadium, went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs, featuring an RBI double that gave Curtis a second-inning lead over Timberline on Thursday night. The Vikings ran away, 12-2.
Karsten Hansen, Capital baseball – Cougars ace sparkled in Wednesday’s complete-game shutout over Central Kitsap. Threw 64 of 99 pitches for strikes in Capital’s 6-0 win. Surrendered four hits, one walk, and struck out three across seven frames.
Josh Healey, Vashon Island baseball – Pirates OF went 3-for-3 with three runs, a walk, and stolen base in Vashon Island’s 10-4 win over Seattle Christian on Friday.
Coleman Hollabaugh, Kennedy Catholic baseball – Without ample run support, twirled six-inning shutout (3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K) that carried Lancers to 1-0 win over Kentridge on Wednesday.
Jaylen Kennedy, North Thurston baseball – In 2-0 win over reigning 2A-champion Tumwater, two-way Kennedy doubled home the go-ahead run in the first inning and retired the T-Birds in order for a seventh-inning save.
Chase Kreuger, Sumner baseball – Tossed five strong innings over Bethel on Tuesday (5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) and went 2-for-3 with two RBI at the plate in Sumner’s 9-3 win.
Josh Moore, Curtis baseball — On the mound, allowed two hits, an earned run, three walks and struck out five in six innings of work in win over first-place Puyallup on Tuesday.
Mason Pike, Puyallup baseball – Shoved a 6.1-inning shutout over SPSL-rival Rogers on April 29 (4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) and went 1-for-2 with a double, walk, and RBI.
Trace Pruitt, Olympia baseball – UW commit tossed a complete game over Bellarmine Prep on Tuesday (7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K) and went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and walk in Olympia’s 6-1 win.
Tanner Solinsky, Emerald Ridge baseball – Reached safely five times in Wednesday’s big 13-3 win over Graham-Kapowsin, going 4-for-4 with an RBI, walk, and two runs.
Konor Tupuola, South Kitsap baseball – Notched his second complete game of the season in Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Rogers. Junior right-hander surrendered two hits, one earned run, and fanned eight.
Beckett Turnbow, Tahoma baseball – Went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs, two RBI, and a double in Tahoma’s 11-4 win over Decatur on Wednesday.
Landon Wall, Enumclaw baseball – Hornets DH fouled off four pitches before launching the game-tying home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning of Monday’s thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Fife. Eli Murphy bunted home the game-winning run later in the frame. Wall went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Jacob Watrous, Auburn Mountainview baseball – The definition of clutch hitting, Watrous lined a go-ahead, two-run single up the middle in Tuesday’s sixth inning, lifting the Lions to a 4-3 win over Thomas Jefferson. Leadoff hitter went 2-for-2 with a walk, stolen base, and two runs.
