Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (May 6 to 11)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played May 6 to 11. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Kaylee Walker, Auburn Riverside softball

She hit two home runs and drove in eight runs in a win over rival Auburn Mountainview on Friday.

Katie Arnett, Orting softball — In win over Steilacoom, went 6-for-6 with three doubles, a two-run home run, a grand slam and a single, racking up 11 RBI in the game.

Laina Baker, Bonney Lake softball – Hit two home runs and went 3-for-3 with a walk, four runs, and six RBI in Bonney Lake’s 19-0 rout of Mount Tahoma on Wednesday.

Dani Biehl, Gig Harbor softball — Went 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in win over district rival Peninsula on Thursday.

Kaitlin Christiansen, Fife softball – Infielder went 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs, and four RBI in 20-1 rout of Washington on Thursday.

Aspyn Evanson, Bonney Lake softball – Twirled five-inning one-hitter over rival Mount Tahoma on Wednesday with four walks and seven strikeouts. Panthers cruised, 19-0.

Sam Hackney, Decatur softball — Drove in four runs on two hits to lead Decatur over Kent-Meridian on Friday.

Alyssa Harris, Enumclaw softball – Went five strong innings over rival-Washington with no walks and 11 strikeouts in Friday’s 13-1 win. Harris surrendered three hits and one earned run. At the plate, went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Kaylee Henry, Enumclaw softball – Threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout over Clover Park with nine strikeouts and one walk in Enumclaw’s 22-0 win Thursday. Reached in all four plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, four runs, and an RBI.

Mallory Hoke, Yelm softball — Went 2-for-4 with two RBI at the plate in win over River Ridge on Thursday. On the mound, pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing six hits, two earned runs, walking one and striking out eight.

London Kim, Stadium softball – Went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI in Stadium’s 14-2 win over Mount Tahoma on Tuesday.

Riley McGee, Sumner softball — Went 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI and a run scored in win over valley rival Puyallup on Thursday. Also pitched two innings, allowing one hit, an earned run and striking out four.

Alexa Ramirez, Tahoma softball — Dominated in 10-0 win over Kentridge, pitching six innings, allowing one hit, one walk, no runs and struck out 13.

Maddie Repp, Bethel softball — Went 4-for-4, hit two home runs and drove in six runs in win over Bellarmine Prep on Friday.

Kiley Sledge, Franklin Pierce softball — Hit for the cycle in win over Foss on Thursday, hitting a grand slam in the fifth, triple in the second, double in the second and a single in the fourth. Racked up seven RBI.

Kaylee Walker, Auburn Riverside softball — Hit two home runs and drove in eight runs in win over rival Auburn Mountainview on Friday.

Alanna Wirtala, Emerald Ridge softball — In two complete game wins over Sumner, pitched 14 innings, allowing three earned runs, no walks and striking out 14 batters. Also went 4-for-7 at the plate with two RBI.
