Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (Jan. 20 to 25)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for contests played between Jan. 20-25. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Deonte Jones, Lakes basketball

The senior guard scored 19 points, had six steals, six rebounds and four assists in win over Capital and had 19 points against River Ridge.

Sebastian Arius, Auburn Mountainview basketball — Senior guard posted consecutive double-doubles in wins over Enumclaw and Kent-Meridian to preserve Lions’ 17-0 record. Scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and five assists in win over Hornets, then had 21 points with 10 rebounds and five steals in win over Royals.

Javon Barbee, Franklin Pierce basketball — The state’s second-leading scorer dropped a game-high 31 points (11-15 FG) with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in 79-59 win at Clover Park.

Hakeen Collins, Franklin Pierce basketball — Junior wing had 19-point, 12-rebound double-double with four steals in 79-59 win at Clover Park.

Brycen Dawley, Tahoma wrestling — Defeated Orting’s Arcadius Cruz in the 113-pound class via 9-3 decision Tuesday.

Donovan Gill, Stadium basketball — Scored 23 points in loss to Camas on Monday.

Dominique Harper, River Ridge basketball — Junior forward stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks in win over Timberline, then had 19-point, 10-rebound double-double in loss to Lakes.

Jeremiah Harshman, Annie Wright basketball — Senior guard caught fire with game-high 12 points (four triples) in the first half of Annie Wright’s 85-32 win over Life Christian.

Deonte Jones, Lakes basketball — Scored 19 points, had six steals, six rebounds and four assists in win over Capital and had 19 points against River Ridge.

Drew Jones, Puyallup basketball — Vikings guard dropped 21 points in Wednesday’s rivalry win over Sumner.

Brayden McVey, Federal Way basketball — Scored a game-high 17 points for Federal Way in close loss to Davis (Yakima) on Monday.

Ryzen Nunez, River Ridge basketball — Sophomore forward posted consecutive 20+ point performances in win over Timberline (22 PTS, 9 REB) and loss to Lakes (20 PTS, 4 REB).

Tyson Parker, Silas basketball — Scored a team-high 17 points in overtime loss to Silas on Monday.

Kolven Posey, Auburn Mountainview basketball — Junior guard tallied 16 points, nine assists and six steals in 92-50 win over Kent-Meridian.

Kade Price, Bellarmine Prep basketball — Scored 18 points in road win over Lincoln on Thursday.

Makai Resseau, Sound Christian basketball — Senior point guard dropped 27 points with four steals and three rebounds in win over Chief Kitsap, then had 16 points (six steals) in win over Crosspoint Christian and 18 points in loss to Summit Classical Christian.

Davion Shareef-Dulaney, Lincoln basketball — Freshman guard scored 18 points in loss to Bellarmine Prep on Thursday.

I John Taylor, Clover Park basketball — Dangerous perimeter shooter and junior point guard tallied 15 points on five triples in loss to Franklin Pierce then dropped 23 points with four rebounds in win over Fife.

Dominic Thomas, Orting wrestling — Defeated Tahoma’s Owen Marshall in the 132-pound class via 2-1 decision. The Cardinals dominated the meeting between defending state-champion programs, 47-18.

Gabe Walsh, Annie Wright basketball — Senior guard dropped game-high 14 points with four triples in 85-32 win over Life Christian.

Treyshawn Weatherspoon, Rogers basketball — Senior guard dropped 32 points with five rebounds in win over Silas, scored 20 points with five rebounds in loss to Emerald Ridge, then had 25 points and seven assists in win over Curtis. Weatherspoon also had 4+ steals in each game.

Terrence Whiting, Todd Beamer basketball — Senior guard scored 26 points with nine rebounds and nine assists in win over Kentlake, then had 27-point, 10-rebound double-double with eight assists in win over White River.

Ronnie Wiggins, Bellarmine Prep basketball — Sunk the game-winning 3-pointer against Lincoln on Thursday night to keep the Lions alive in the 3A PSL Narrows title race.
