Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (Feb. 10 to 15)

This week’s winner is:

Drew Jones, Puyallup basketball

The senior guard’s game-high 25 points (and 15 points in the first quarter) lifted Puyallup over Emerald Ridge in Friday’s district quarterfinals, 67-47, clinching a state tournament berth.

Sebastian Arius, Auburn Mountainview basketball — Senior point guard led Lions with 24 points in district win over Kent Meridian, then had 13 points in playoff win over Mountain View to clinch 3A state berth.

Dylan Gilderhus, Rogers basketball — Senior point guard had game-high 22 points (one shy of season-high), helping Rogers rally for an upset playoff win over Kennedy Catholic on Wednesday night.

Carter Hansen, Auburn basketball — Senior guard posted 10 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in district-opening win over Bonney Lake, then paced Trojans with 25 points in Friday’s district quarterfinals win over Rogers, clinching a state berth.

Daniel Johnson, Auburn basketball — Scored 17 points in district quarterfinal win over Rogers, clinching a 4A state tournament berth.

Drew Jones, Puyallup basketball — The senior guard’s game-high 25 points (and 15 points in the first quarter) lifted Puyallup over Emerald Ridge in Friday’s district quarterfinals, 67-47, clinching a state tournament berth.

Brandon Tagle, Kentwood basketball — Junior guard dropped game-high 22 points in Kentwood’s 86-66 district win over Curtis.

Kasey Williams, Lincoln basketball — Junior scored game-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field to lift Lincoln over River Ridge in Wednesday’s district opener, 82-44.

Treyshawn Weatherspoon, Rogers basketball — Rams point guard tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in comeback playoff win at Kennedy Catholic, then had 15 points and five steals in district loss to Auburn.
