Mission accomplished. Annie Wright, the tournament’s top seed, is the Class 1A state boys basketball champion after beating No. 3 Lynden Christian in the 1A state championship game at the Yakima Valley SunDome on Saturday night, 59-46.

Guard Jeremiah Harshman scored a game-high 20 points, including shooting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and also tallied five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Martin Kaupanger added 10 points and Noah Schow scored eight.

Guard Gannon Dykstra scored a team-high 10 points for Lynden Christian in the loss.

Annie Wright shot a blistering 52 percent from the field and held Lynden Christian to 36 percent shooting.

Harshman was named the 1A all-tournament MVP in Yakima, while Martin Kaupanger was named to the second team.

Annie Wright finishes the season with a 24-2 record and was one of the state’s best teams this winter, regardless of classification. The Gators’ signature win came early, a season-opening win over Rainier Beach, which clobbered everyone in its path this week in the Class 3A state tournament at the Tacoma Dome.
